Da Nang City delegation visited and worked with Nvidia Company (USA)

DNO - On the afternoon of November 17, local time, Party Central Committee member, City Party Secretary, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Da Nang City Nguyen Van Quang led a city delegation to visit and work with Nvidia Company in Silicon Valley (California, USA).

At the meeting, leaders of Da Nang city and leaders of Nvidia Company discussed the global development trend of artificial intelligence (AI) and the potential to establish and expand cooperative relations between the company and the city.

Especially in the context of the US-Vietnam relationship developing to a new height with a focus on promoting investment cooperation and innovation.

Nvidia, with its strength in manufacturing components for AI, is expected to surpass many formidable competitors to become the world's highest-revenue chip design company in 2023.

Ms. Shilpa Kolhatkar, Global Director of AI Nations and Deputy Director of Nvidia Office, said that the company appreciates Vietnam's efforts in building a favorable investment environment for US microchip and semiconductor businesses.

The company hopes that in the coming time, there will be many cooperation programs in the field of microchips and semiconductors with Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang said that, based on promoting its strengths, in the strategy of developing the semiconductor industry, Da Nang is focusing on promoting chip and microcircuit design and gradually developing chip testing and packaging.

To realize the goal of becoming one of the leading investment destinations in the field of microchips and semiconductors in Vietnam, the city is researching and developing preferential policies, appropriate investment support, and a project to develop high-quality human resources to meet the requirements of companies.

The City Party Secretary said that the city currently has 250 microchip and electronics enterprises with 10,500 employees, including 550 microchip design engineers.

The annual goal is to have about 1,000 engineers graduating from prestigious universities in the city.

At the same time, it is expected that Nvidia will cooperate and support Da Nang in developing the semiconductor industry, especially in contributing to the development of mechanisms and preferential policies, investment support; technology transfer, human resource training; support infrastructure investment, and improve access to AI solutions.

At the invitation of the City Party Secretary, Nvidia's representative said that they will soon come to Da Nang to survey and research specific cooperation programs for the development of the microchip and semiconductor industry, and hope to continue to receive the attention, companionship, and support of the city's leaders.
