"Unification Train" meets in Da Nang on April 30

(NLDO) - Two trains SE1 and SE4, departing from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City respectively, "met" in Da Nang City on April 30.

At noon on April 30, at Da Nang station, Vietnam Railways Corporation held a special event to welcome the Thong Nhat train.

Accordingly, two trains SE1 and SE4, departing from Hanoi station and Saigon station respectively, officially met in Da Nang city - the midpoint of the North-South railway line.

The trains are brightly decorated with the theme "Unification Railway - A united country", spreading the message of national pride, solidarity and the country's desire for innovation.

As a passenger on train SE1, Ms. Thanh Hang (born in 1990, living in Hanoi) said she was very moved to experience being a passenger on this special train.

"As soon as I got off the train station and heard familiar songs about the country, and was welcomed by bright red flags, I was truly moved with pride. I am grateful to the generations of heroes who sacrificed so that the country could have a day of peace and unity like today" - Ms. Hang shared.

Sharing the same feeling, Mr. Hong Cong Han (born in 1978, residing in Hanoi) said that his whole family had a special experience on the SE1 train from North to South on the special day, April 30. "These experiences make me appreciate even more the sacrifices of the previous generation, who brought independence and unity to the nation" - Mr. Han said.

At the welcoming ceremony, there were cultural and artistic activities to welcome; incense offering to commemorate the heroes and martyrs of the Train Depot Party Cell at Da Nang Station; gifts were presented to veterans, people with meritorious services to the revolution, former railway officials who contributed to the resistance war; doves were released...

There were a total of 900 passengers on both trains. At Da Nang station, about 400 passengers got off the train and nearly 500 passengers continued their journey to Hanoi station and Saigon station.

At Da Nang Railway Station, passengers were welcomed with vibrant music and drum dance performances.

According to the Vietnam Railway Corporation, for the Vietnamese people, the image of the Reunification train connecting the North and South has become a symbol of peace, of the aspiration for national independence and the joy of victory and reunion.

This event is held with the desire to recreate the historical atmosphere of the National Reunification Day; pay tribute to previous generations and educate about patriotic traditions.

On the occasion of this important anniversary, Vietnam Railways is implementing a special gratitude program: from April 24 to May 9, 40% discount on ticket prices for policy beneficiaries such as war invalids, sick soldiers, veterans and relatives of people with revolutionary contributions.
