On March 18, nearly 30 members of the grassroots trade union of Van Nham Commune People's Committee, Huu Lung District participated in supporting Mr. Ly Van Lan's family (a poor household in Cao village) to demolish their old house to prepare for the construction of a new house from the support source according to Resolution 188 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee (issued on October 25, 2024 on the implementation of the program to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for households with meritorious services to the revolution, policy families, poor households, near-poor households, and people affected by natural disasters and climate change in the province). Also participating in supporting Mr. Lan's family, members of the grassroots trade union of Van Nham Secondary School I donated nearly 2 million VND in cash to help the family cover the costs of building a new house.
On average, each year, union members and workers in the whole province support the Provincial Federation of Labor Social Fund with over 1 billion VND. The fund will support housing for union members and workers at the rate of 40 million VND/house for new construction and 20 million VND/house for repairs. |
Mr. Sam Van Dau, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, a member of the Van Nham Commune People's Committee's Trade Union, said: Along with cash support, union members also participated in working days to help families in the commune during the construction process. With the contribution of union members and the whole society, currently, 12 households in the commune that are eligible for support under Resolution 188 have all completed construction and repairs, reaching a rate of 100%.
Like the union members of Van Nham commune, in recent years, union members of trade union organizations in the province have actively supported and joined hands to achieve the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses. Ms. Be Thi Hoa, Chairwoman of the Provincial Federation of Labor (PPL), said: The concern and support for housing for people in difficult circumstances has been carried out by trade unions at all levels for many years through the Provincial Federation of Labor Social Fund (formerly the Trade Union Shelter Fund). Especially in recent times, this work has continued to receive more attention in response to the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province.
It is known that on average, each year, union members and workers in the whole province support the Provincial Federation of Labor Social Fund with over 1 billion VND. The fund will support housing for union members and workers at the rate of 40 million VND/house for new construction and 20 million VND/house for repair. From 2024 to now, the whole province has had 39 union members build new and repair "Union Shelter" houses with a total cost of over 1.2 billion VND.
Implementing Resolution No. 188, trade unions at all levels have promoted and mobilized union members and workers to participate in cash support; 100% of full-time union officials have supported at least one day's salary/person. According to data from the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, from 2024 to present, cadres, civil servants, public employees and people in the province have supported about 8 billion VND for the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses; including contributions from union members and workers in local trade unions.
In addition to continuing to promote the role of propaganda and mobilizing union members to participate in supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses and conducting a review of union members in need of housing support, in March 2025, the Provincial Federation of Labor allocated a portion of the Provincial Federation of Labor Social Fund together with the support of specialized union officials of the province to support the construction of 2 new houses (in Trung Thanh commune, Trang Dinh district and Thuy Hung commune, Van Lang district) with a total cost of 120 million VND.
On this occasion, trade unions at all levels have been implementing many projects and tasks to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels. Many trade unions have registered to select projects and tasks related to supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. Thereby, contributing to the successful implementation of the common goal of the whole province in 2025.
