Specifically, 3 gold medals went to Nguyen Huu Tien Hung, a 12th grader at Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, Bac Ninh province; Giap Vu Son Ha, a 12th grader at Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, Bac Giang province; and Tran Dang Khoi, a 12th grader at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Hanoi. The silver medal was awarded to Do Phu Quoc, a 12th grader at Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted, Quang Nam province.

ICHO was held in Saudi Arabia from July 21 to 30 with the participation of 327 candidates from 89 countries and territories. The exam included a theoretical exam and a practical exam, each lasting 5 hours. This year's practical exam was assessed to have many new and topical points, requiring candidates to have the ability to think comprehensively and perform operational skills accurately. The theoretical exam covered the applications of chemistry in industry, environmental pollution treatment, and advanced materials.
With 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal, Vietnam ranked 2nd out of 89 participating countries and territories, tied for 2nd place with the US delegation and only behind the Chinese delegation.
With 20 contestants participating in ICHO from 2020-2024, the Vietnamese delegation won 20/20 medals, including 17 gold medals and 3 silver medals, continuously being in the top 3 leading countries in terms of the number of gold medals.
