Supermarkets prepare a large number of employees, payment systems, and cashiers to ensure convenient and easy shopping for people, while extending sales hours to serve people during Tet.

With only one week left until the Lunar New Year, businesses in Hanoi have organized many promotional discount programs, reorganized shopping spaces, and added more payment points to help people buy goods conveniently, thereby stimulating consumption.
Many items are deeply discounted
To prepare for Lunar New Year 2024, the WinCommerce system worked with suppliers 3 months in advance as well as negotiated with suppliers, and carefully checked the quality of each source of goods to groups of goods for this Tet holiday.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Deputy General Director of WinCommerce in charge of the Winmart supermarket chain, said that this Lunar New Year, the company focuses on products with relatively low average prices to meet the shopping needs of more customers. In particular, promotional programs are implemented more focused, including programs for necessities and essential goods such as pork, vegetables, etc.
The Ministry also coordinates with major localities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and other localities to have a supply of goods during the year-end and Tet holidays that are 5-10% cheaper than the market.
“This Tet holiday, in addition to preparing a full supply of goods, WinCommerce is implementing many promotional programs such as “buy 1 get 1 free,” “buy 2 get 1 free”…, and also focusing on promotional programs combined with membership cards, such as up to 20% discount on VinEco pork and vegetables…,” Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung informed.
In food safety control, businesses also regularly evaluate and inspect suppliers on a monthly and quarterly basis, especially with fresh and processed products.
Accordingly, WinCommerce has a nationwide distribution warehouse system (10 warehouses), a 2-layer product inspection process, 1 input inspection layer and 1 inspection layer at the supermarket. Therefore, 100% of Winmart supermarket products ensure food safety, bringing consumers a safe, joyful and complete Tet season.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Director of Big C Thang Long supermarket, said that the unit has also worked with suppliers since June and July 2023 and committed to increasing output by 20%, thereby ensuring price stability.
“Big C Thang Long also launched a promotional program, weekend discounts, and lock-in (no price increase) for 10,000 products during the 45-day Tet holiday period (from December 28, 2023 to February 9, 2024), along with other promotional programs,” said Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan.
Similarly, with Co.op Mart Ha Dong supermarket, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Dung, Director of this unit, said that the discount programs for Tet are carried out in great detail, with many super incentives, not "increasing and then decreasing."
“Supermarkets cooperate with suppliers to spend money to reduce product prices, sell all goods before Tet to avoid inventory. Therefore, this is an opportunity for consumers to take advantage of Tet shopping with attractive prices and many incentive programs for all product lines,” said a representative of Co.op Mart Ha Dong.
Vietnamese goods dominate
Talking about the plan to open to serve people's shopping needs near Tet, WinCommerce Deputy General Director Nguyen Tien Dung said the supermarket will open until 12 noon on the 30th of Tet and reopen on the 4th of Tet.
“The unit focuses 100% of its staff on serving at the supermarket and has increased daily opening hours to 11pm so that people can shop more comfortably. At the same time, it is preparing a logistics plan to ensure there is no shortage of goods during this Tet holiday,” said Mr. Dung.
In addition to direct sales, Winmart supermarket also maintains connections with customers through many channels, including online sales channels to better serve customer needs.
In 2024, Hanoi city has prepared hundreds of thousands of tons of goods and products, with an estimated total value of about 40,900 billion VND, an increase of about 15% compared to the implementation of Tet in 2023. Up to now, more than 1,300 points of sale of distribution and retail units have registered to reopen to serve people from the 1st to the 5th day of Tet, from the 6th day of Tet onwards, the systems will operate normally to serve people.
Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Lan, Acting Director of Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, informed that the situation and on-site inspection showed that businesses have seriously followed the city's instructions.
Accordingly, supermarkets have prepared a rich and diverse range of goods to serve the needs of the people. Notably, the variety and design of Vietnamese goods are very good and appear a lot on the shelves of supermarkets.
“Vietnamese goods are dominating this year’s Lunar New Year holiday when the proportion of Vietnamese goods in supermarkets reaches over 90%. The designs are more beautiful, the quality is better, the prices are more reasonable. This is the opinion of many distribution systems and consumers,” Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Lan shared.

The assessment of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade also shows that domestic and imported goods are also prepared by supermarkets at very good prices, with promotional programs for consumers covering all market segments from high to low.
Supermarkets also prepare a large number of staff, payment systems, and cashiers to ensure convenient and easy shopping for people. In addition, supermarkets also register to open more hours, extending sales hours to serve people during Tet.
“The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade will strengthen its grasp of prices and food safety, support 24/7 transport vehicles to enhance regulation and circulation from warehouses to distribution stores, shopping malls, and supermarkets to serve and meet the regular and continuous needs of consumers this Tet holiday,” said Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Lan./.
