Dynamic construction enterprises overcome difficulties

- In recent years, the production and business activities of construction enterprises have encountered many difficulties due to fierce market competition, prolonged debt in basic construction, and some problems in site clearance of projects that have not been thoroughly resolved... Faced with this reality, enterprises have implemented many solutions to overcome difficulties and stand firm in the market.

According to the survey and forecast of the General Statistics Office for construction enterprises conducted in the fourth quarter of 2023, up to 53.7% of enterprises will face more difficulties in 2024. The reason is due to the narrowing market, increasing prices and costs of raw materials. In addition, many construction contracts have not been paid for, the situation of outstanding debts in basic construction from public investment capital is slow to be processed, causing the production and business activities of construction enterprises to continue to face difficulties.

According to the Provincial Business Association, there are currently 61 enterprises specializing in consulting, investing, and constructing works participating in the Investment and Construction Enterprise Association. Most of them are small and micro enterprises, creating jobs for about 4,000 workers in the province with an income of 6 - 20 million VND/person/month.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dong, owner of Duc - Tin - Hung Private Enterprise in Loc Binh District, specializing in supplying construction materials and constructing construction works, said: The construction materials supply market is currently facing fierce competition because more and more units are participating in the supply while the market in Lang Son is very small. The construction and installation bidding field is also becoming more and more competitive, because 100% of investors choose contractors online, making it increasingly difficult to find jobs. To stay strong, the unit has reviewed all stages in the production and business process, promoting the application of technology in business administration to reduce management costs. At the same time, the unit continues to improve product quality and seek potential new customers in the private sector. Thanks to that, from 2022 to now, the unit has maintained stable jobs for 25 employees with stable incomes from 7.5 to 14 million VND/person/month.

In difficult circumstances, many construction investment enterprises in the province have strengthened their cooperation to expand the market. Lang Son Traffic Construction and Consulting Joint Stock Company is one of the typical enterprises. Mr. Hoang Van Hai, Director of the company, expressed: Currently, the company is maintaining jobs for 70 workers and the market share in the field of traffic construction consulting, the unit is accounting for about 20% of the total number of traffic works in the province. In the context of the consulting market being quite competitive and increasingly narrowing, the unit has promoted cooperation with units inside and outside the province to participate in the implementation of construction works. Specifically, from the beginning of 2024, the unit has joined in cooperation with enterprises in Hanoi city to carry out the survey drilling project of the Ring Road 4 project in the capital region to create new jobs for workers and improve the capacity and experience of the unit's engineering team; Actively participate in bidding for consulting packages in neighboring provinces such as Cao Bang and constantly improve the quality of products that the unit is participating in implementing.

Faced with the difficulties of the construction investment business community, the Provincial Business Association has promoted its role as a bridge of solidarity to support businesses to gradually overcome them.

Mr. Dao Trong Tam, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Business Association informed: In addition to the efforts of enterprises, the association has implemented measures to support members by connecting construction enterprises that are members of the association in the province with construction enterprises of other provincial associations to use each other's services. Along with that, the association also organizes conferences to provide information on the construction investment situation, construction investment trends, connecting enterprises with banks to help member enterprises have plans to mobilize capital, plan appropriate and effective production and business development plans.

According to preliminary statistics, in 2023 and the first 3 months of 2024, 15 enterprises trading in materials, consulting, and construction have joined forces to use each other's services to maintain production, and 12 enterprises inside and outside the province have formed joint ventures to carry out construction and installation of basic construction packages in the province. The results show very positive signals, the construction and installation packages have all met and exceeded the set schedule...

With the solutions that investment and construction enterprises are implementing and the support of the Provincial Business Association, the investment and construction business community has been gradually overcoming difficulties to stand firm in the market. Thereby, continuing to create many jobs, stable income for workers and contributing to the overall development of the province.
