The work "Seahorse" is beautifully shaped from rough pebbles.

This is the first time Tuy Phong District People's Committee has organized this contest.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Duong Hong Son, Vice Chairman of Tuy Phong District People's Committee said: The contest "Arranging artistic stones on the sand" aims to exploit the values of tourism resources and promote the spirit of initiative and creativity in using the available local resources and advantages to develop and build the Tuy Phong tourism brand to be increasingly attractive and highly competitive.

This is also an opportunity to promote the image of the homeland, people and culture of Binh Thuan in general, Tuy Phong district in particular to the people and tourists inside and outside the province. Thereby, creating a meaningful playground for organizations and individuals to participate in creating beautiful, novel, unique works of art with their own characteristics from available local resources. Above all, the contest also demonstrates the responsibility of local authorities in preserving and promoting the value of local heritage, creating a spread to the local community.

The contest attracted 53 groups of authors from within and outside the locality to participate. After 2 hours of showing their talents, the art enthusiasts meticulously arranged and created beautiful, artistic, and interesting works, containing their own implications. They were a wind farm, a boat full of waves under the sun, the life of a fishing village, historical and cultural relics of the sea or marine creatures. The simple, rustic stones seemed to be breathed into life.

Plastic works require meticulousness and skill of the author.

According to the jury's assessment, the entries this time all used available materials such as stones from Ca Duoc rock beach and sand and seawater. The works all met the criteria of creating clear main and secondary images; creating color contrast from stones of different colors. The content of the works is also rich, promoting the potential, strengths, and people of Binh Thuan in general, and Tuy Phong in particular.

At the end of the contest, the work “La Gan Fisherman” of Lien Huong Primary School won first prize. The works “Ocean Whale” (Bong Sen Kindergarten) and Seahorse (Phong Phu Secondary School) won second prize. Third prize went to the works: “Going Out to Sea” (Phuoc The 2 Primary School); “Windmill Field” (Phong Phu 2 Primary School) and “PoDam Tower” (Phu Lac Secondary School). In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded 10 consolation prizes to the units. All the works entered in this contest will be displayed for the enjoyment of the people and tourists.

The “Artistic Sand Stone Arrangement” competition attracted the participation and cheering of many domestic and international tourists. Many people were excited to witness a unique and different competition never seen before.

Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Thuy, from Ho Chi Minh City, said: Her family has been to Tuy Phong many times but only on business trips; this time we had the opportunity to visit and were lucky to see a very crowded and bustling stone stacking competition. Witnessing the meticulousness and care of each person on each stone, we can see everyone's love for this place and she also has very special feelings about this place.

Tourist Romeu, from Portugal, shared: "I have been to many places in Vietnam but have never seen such a competition. It is fun when everyone gathers on the beach and creates very cute works. I like the shapes of sea creatures and dolphins. I think this is a good opportunity for many tourists to know about this beach."

Ca Duoc rock beach (also known as seven-color rock beach) was formed hundreds of years ago, stretching nearly 1.5 km on Binh Thanh beach, and was unanimously zoned for protection by the provincial and local authorities with a total area of 10 hectares.

Due to the impact of tides, ocean currents, seawater and rocks pushed up by the waves from year to year, the natural 7-color rock beach has been formed: Black, gray, brown, yellow, purple, blue, white with beautiful veins. Under the waves and tropical sunlight, the entire rock beach shines with shimmering colors like pure gems.

The artworks attract a lot of viewers because of their uniqueness and novelty.

In 2020, Ca Duoc Stone Beach was recognized as a provincial-level monument; it was recognized by the Vietnam Book of Records Center as "The stone beach with the most shapes and colors in Vietnam" and is one of the 13 most beautiful stone beaches in the country. Because of that uniqueness, combined with the scenic Ba Khom Moss Beach, Co Thach Pagoda, eco-tourism areas... recently, Tuy Phong has become a destination that attracts a lot of domestic and foreign tourists.
