Vietnam team captain: 'Xuan Son is a very special player'

Do Duy Manh emphasized the importance of Nguyen Xuan Son in the Vietnam national team.

Sharing at the afternoon practice session on November 14, Vietnam national team captain Do Duy Manh had many words of praise for naturalized striker Nguyen Xuan Son.

"Xuan Son is a very special player, a striker who is very good at scoring goals. I talk to Xuan Son a lot, share and encourage him so that he can practice well. Xuan Son is also very professional. At this time, he is very eager to contribute to Vietnamese football," said Do Duy Manh.

Returning to the national team after nearly a year of absence, Nguyen Xuan Son is trying to compete for a starting position in the match against Laos on November 19 in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. Currently, Xuan Son has had his fourth training session with the Vietnamese team.

"Xuan Son told me he really missed the football field. When he played football, he was very happy. As a player who hasn't played football for a long time, that feeling is terrible. Xuan Son had to make a lot of effort to be able to return to training, competing and finding himself again," Duy Manh shared.

He continued: "Xuan Son's desire is also an encouragement for all players to work together to create a strong Vietnamese team, so that they can play well in all matches.

We are very united. Not only me but also the other brothers are in harmony with Xuan Son to represent Vietnamese football internationally."

Duy Manh said the goal of the Vietnamese team in the next match is to win against Laos to keep the hope of winning a ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup finals.

After completing the training session in Phu Tho , the Vietnamese team will leave for Laos on the morning of November 15 to prepare for the second leg of Group F of the third qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup. This match will take place on November 19.
