Welcoming the remains and a mass grave of 16 martyrs who died in Laos back to their homeland

Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang (right cover), Standing Deputy Secretary of Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee, attended the funeral ceremony.

This is the 34th time Quang Tri province has received the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos since 1993.

Mr. Ha Si Dong, Permanent Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, sent the heroic martyrs back to their homeland.

At the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, emotionally spoke: "Today, welcoming you back with your comrades in the motherland, we are both happy because we have done a specific and meaningful thing for you, and sad because most of you do not know your identity, but whether you have a name or not, your noble sacrifice will always be forever remembered by the Fatherland. May you rest in peace with your beloved comrades, and pray for your souls to rest in peace in eternity. We, all of us who are alive today, promise to be determined to protect to the end the ideals you have chosen, to build our homeland to be more and more prosperous, to foster the special friendship between the two countries of Vietnam and Laos to be forever green and forever sustainable."

Leaders of Quang Tri province and the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command buried the martyrs.

Over the past years, with the attention of the Special Working Group of the Governments of Vietnam and Laos, the Ministry of National Defense , the Command of Military Region 4, Quang Tri province, together with the people of Lao ethnic groups, have carried out the search and brought thousands of martyrs' remains back to their homeland, to the Fatherland; contributing to easing the losses of the relatives of heroic martyrs.
