The Provincial Farmers' Association surveyed the effectiveness of production models of members using capital from the Farmers' Support Fund in Nhu Thanh district.
Mr. Ha Thinh Hung's family farm in Nga An commune (Nga Son) is built according to a zero-waste circular agricultural model. With hundreds of pigs, the farm releases dozens of tons of waste into the environment each year. To treat this waste safely and hygienically, his family has built a biogas system. All waste is transferred to the biogas tank for incubation, then pumped up to settling ponds, mixed with biological products, and continued with the incubation process to become organic fertilizer. This source of fertilizer is used by him to care for crops on the farm, both improving the soil and being safe for the environment. With the attention of local authorities at all levels, along with a support of 70 million VND from the Farmers' Support Fund, his family has invested in building a 4,000m2 greenhouse to produce cantaloupe. Currently, the family is producing with a rotation formula of 3 cantaloupe crops/year using high technology. Thanks to proper care and technical procedures, each crop yields 3 tons of commercial melons/1,000m2. With an area of 4,000m2, the yield is nearly 50 tons per year, after deducting costs, the profit is nearly 200 million VND. In addition to growing cantaloupes, the family invested in a trial planting of 500m2 of milk grapes, which are currently growing well.
To create conditions for farmers to have more resources to promote their role as the main subject, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Farmers' Association has signed 40 coordination programs with departments, agencies, branches, and enterprises; built the Project "Thanh Hoa Farmers' Association with the program of bringing enterprises to agriculture and rural areas" for the period 2020-2025. Associations at all levels in the province have focused on promoting activities to support farmers in terms of capital, knowledge, science and technology transfer, vocational training, product consumption connection, etc. At the same time, continue to guarantee and accept trust with the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, the Bank for Social Policies and Loc Phat Vietnam Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( LPBank ) for farmer members to borrow capital. Currently, the Provincial Farmers' Support Fund has lent capital to 600 farmer members through 79 projects, with a total outstanding debt of 38.9 billion VND, of which the Central Association's entrusted capital is 18 billion VND. Along with providing capital support, the Provincial Farmers' Association coordinates with relevant agencies to organize training courses, transfer science and technology to people; establish cooperative groups to develop production, advise on production and business plans, guide on how to manage and effectively use loan capital, create jobs and increase income for people.
With the support and companionship of the association, along with the spirit of daring to think, daring to do, boldly applying scientific and technical advances, introducing new crops and livestock into production, many farmer members have risen to become good farmer households in production and business, earning billions of dong, creating jobs for many local workers. The whole province has mobilized 280,859 farmer households to register to strive to achieve the title of good production and business households at all levels; 198,666 households have achieved the title of good production and business households at all levels; 34 new "Good Farmer Production and Business" clubs have been established, bringing the number of these clubs in the province to 113, with 1,625 members participating.
Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association Tran Binh Quan said: "The Farmers' Support Fund is implemented with the goal of prioritizing loans to build and replicate economic development models that promote local potential and advantages; apply scientific and technical advances and high technology in production and business; have production linkages according to the value chain; the products created must ensure food hygiene and safety, aiming for products that meet local OCOP standards; the model must be associated with the building of the association and the farmers' movement".
