Along with promoting administrative reform, improving the competitiveness of the economy ; improving the quality of human resources, focusing resources on perfecting the infrastructure system were identified by the 16th Congress of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, term 2020-2025, as 3 strategic breakthroughs for development.
Completing socio-economic infrastructure, especially transport infrastructure, to meet the requirements of economic development and attract investment is the determination of the leaders of Ca Mau province. During the working session of General Secretary To Lam with the Standing Committee of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, Comrade Nguyen Tien Hai, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, emphasized: "If investment is not timely, lacks focus, and does not prioritize large enough resources to remove bottlenecks in transport infrastructure, Ca Mau will find it difficult to accelerate, local advantages will be slowly exploited, and the path to progress with the region and the whole country will continue to be slow and backward".
In recent years, in Ca Mau, the transport infrastructure, especially key projects in the area, has undergone a "transformation", creating important connecting axes. From there, the road transport system has been basically smooth, creating the driving force and foundation for comprehensive and solid development.
Ho Chi Minh Road will be upgraded and expanded to meet the needs of rapid and sustainable development.
Ong Doc River Bridge operates along the East-West axis through National Highway 1, straight to Tan Thuan (Dam Doi District), promising to create a new development, exploiting the potential of the coastal city and neighboring areas. Many new, renovated and upgraded projects are about to be completed such as: Ganh Hao Bridge (Tan Thuan Commune); new construction, expansion and renovation of Dam Doi - Ca Mau City road; expansion and renovation of Vam Dinh - Cai Doi Vam road; new construction, expansion and renovation of U Minh - Khanh Hoi road.
The expectation is even greater as the Government is determined to complete the Hau Giang - Ca Mau Expressway Project by the end of 2025. This shows that investment in key transport infrastructure has become comprehensive, not only for the inland but also towards exploiting the connection of marine economic centers, connecting the inland with coastal areas and industrial zones and clusters according to development needs. This strategic vision shows that investment in road transport infrastructure not only serves socio-economic development but is also associated with ensuring national defense and security.
Determined to be completed by the end of 2025, the Hau Giang - Ca Mau expressway (photo taken from Ca Mau section) will open the door for Ca Mau to develop, integrate, and grow with the country.
We are even more excited and proud when the expressway will extend from Ca Mau City to Dat Mui and will be built in the 2026-2030 period.
Along with that, according to the leader of the Ministry of Transport, the first project will be implemented to expand National Highway 1 from Ca Mau City to Nam Can Town (Nam Can District) with a length of 47.5 km, from 2 lanes to 4 lanes, with a total investment of over 7,000 billion VND. For the Ho Chi Minh route (section from Nam Can Town to Dat Mui), a 58.5 km section will be upgraded, with an investment of about 5,586 billion VND. The project to upgrade and expand Ca Mau Airport is currently being initiated with a construction capital of about 2,400 billion VND; the Hon Khoai Deep-water Seaport Project has a policy, aiming to build a bridge across the sea to Hon Khoai.
The investment project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport has a total capital of about 2,400 billion VND, invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), increasing the capacity to about 3 million passengers/year and 3,000 tons of cargo/year.
In Ca Mau City, in the near future, the construction of Nguyen Dinh Chieu bridge over Ganh Hao river, 3/2 bridge over Ca Mau - Bac Lieu canal will soon be implemented, not only connecting and reducing traffic pressure in the center but also forming an expanded urban area in Ward 7 and Hoa Thanh commune; followed by the southern coastal road axis...
Ganh Hao Bridge (Tan Thuan Commune, Dam Doi District) in November 2024. The completed project will create an inter-regional connection between Ca Mau and Bac Lieu, becoming a bright spot at the Ganh Hao estuary, East bank, and a lever to promote urban and industrial development in Tan Thuan Commune.
