Following Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tat Viet - Head of Ia Lop Border Guard Station, we visited the unit's vegetable garden. Major Viet said: "In order for soldiers to have good health and feel secure in their attachment to the unit, logistics must be ensured and their lives must be well served. The unit is stationed in a remote border area, nearly 90 km from the district center, with difficult roads and no markets. Therefore, ensuring fresh, clean, and safe food for officers and soldiers is a very important task.
In recent times, we have regularly organized activities to increase production, focusing on growing vegetables and raising suitable and effective livestock and poultry. Since then, the quality of soldiers' meals has been improved, ensuring food safety and hygiene."

The Ia Lop Border Post's growing area covers an area of 2,500 m2 with all kinds of vegetables such as: cabbage, kohlrabi, squash, and herbs. Taking advantage of the water source from the stream, the unit dug a pond of more than 1,400 m2, mainly raising fish such as: grass carp, common carp, bighead carp, tilapia, catfish, etc.
In addition, the unit also focuses on raising livestock and poultry. Currently, the unit raises 60 breeding cows, 15 goats, more than 40 pigs and over 200 poultry of various types. Annually, the total revenue from production activities reaches more than 250 million VND. From this source of revenue, the unit has added 2,500 VND/person to daily meals.
Major Le Van Tuan - Captain of the General Staff Team (Ia Lop Border Guard Station) said: "Every day, after work, officers and soldiers in the unit are proactive and proactive in increasing production to improve their meals. We choose varieties suitable for the climate of the border area, intercrop crops to increase productivity and absolutely do not use pesticides or stimulants in cultivation."
To have a lush garden for increased production as it is today, officers and soldiers of Ia Lop Border Guard Station regularly use livestock waste and dry leaves to make organic fertilizer to improve the soil. Every day, after hours of studying, training, and patrolling to protect the border, officers and soldiers work together to increase production. Not only does this contribute to ensuring on-site logistics and providing a source of clean and safe food, it also helps soldiers learn knowledge and skills in agricultural production to serve their lives after leaving the army.
About 6 km from Ia Lop Border Post, the work of increasing production is also focused on by officers and soldiers at Suoi Ba Post. Major Hoang Quoc Bao - Head of Suoi Ba Post led us on a tour of the production area, introducing the products that the brothers grow, from pigs, chickens, ducks, geese to vegetables, tubers and fruits.
Thanks to the good performance in increasing production and ensuring on-site logistics, the material and spiritual life of officers and soldiers of Ia Lop Border Guard Station has been increasingly improved. From the production increase fund, the unit also supports officers and soldiers to celebrate Tet and use it to build and repair internal works.
The above results have also contributed to Ia Lop Border Guard Station regularly maintaining a healthy military force of 98% or more, contributing to building a comprehensively strong unit, firmly protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security.
