This is the kick-off activity for the 9th joint marine survey between the two Academies from May 1 to May 25 in Vietnam's waters. The 9th survey continues a series of cooperative activities that began in 2005, contributing to strengthening the long-term, effective and trustworthy scientific relationship between the two leading Academies of Science, taking place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation (1950 - 2025).
Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Viet Ha emphasized that this 9th joint survey trip is a clear demonstration of the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation in science and technology, especially in marine research and natural resource protection between the two countries.

It is known that this survey trip aims to update and supplement data on biodiversity, environmental quality and marine biological resources, and collect marine and environmental samples for biochemical and microbiological research and evaluate the potential of marine biological compounds. The research teams will focus on analyzing factors related to marine pollution, the presence and accumulation of microplastics, persistent organic compounds and developing remote sensing data for environmental monitoring and aquaculture.

The survey will use the Academician Oparin, one of the Russian Federation's specialized research vessels on biochemistry and biodiversity, with the participation of 30 Russian and Vietnamese scientists. Over the course of nearly a month, the survey team will conduct field sampling in coastal and deep-sea areas in the southern waters of Vietnam.
The results of the survey will be announced at a scientific conference scheduled to be held on May 27 at the Institute of Oceanography.
