On the morning of November 13, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Anh, Director of the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center, said that at 23:26:19 ( Hanoi time) on November 12, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale occurred at coordinates 20.373 degrees North latitude - 104.572 degrees East longitude, with a focal depth of about 10km.

The epicenter was identified in Houaphan province (Laos) - about 5km from the Vietnam border in Na Meo commune, Quan Son district, Thanh Hoa province. The specialized agency assessed the natural disaster risk level as level 1.
A representative of the Institute of Earth Sciences said that the monitoring system is still continuing to monitor the aftershocks and their impact, and noted that the earthquake was only mild and did not cause any damage. The earthquake caused many people in Hanoi to feel tremors and slight shaking.
Previously, on November 11, 6 consecutive earthquakes also occurred in Da Nang and Quang Ngai with magnitudes of 3.3 or less on the Richter scale, causing no damage to people or property.
Since January 1st, the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center has recorded more than 300 earthquakes in Vietnam's territory and sea.
