Creating safe living habits in the digital age

As high-tech crimes become increasingly sophisticated, students become the most vulnerable group. Responding to the campaign "Not alone - The whole people fight fraud", Ho Chi Minh City Police in coordination with the Department of Education and Training, the City Student Support Center (SAC) have simultaneously deployed propaganda activities and digital skills education in schools, forming a solid "shield" in the school environment.

Spread the spirit of "Not alone"

Since August 2025, the campaign "Not alone - The whole people fight fraud" has been widely deployed by the Ho Chi Minh City Police in coordination with the Department of Education and Training and many social organizations throughout the city. This is a large-scale campaign, attracting more than 2 million students to participate directly and online, to help young people quickly identify scams, "online kidnapping", psychological manipulation, impersonation of authorities or other forms of financial fraud online.

Mr. Le Nguyen Nam, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Student Support Center, said: “We realize that cybercrime is creeping into every corner of school life. Therefore, in addition to equipping students with knowledge, it is important to create a network of young propagandists - the 360 Squads who can spread the spirit of vigilance and support friends when they encounter situations of suspected fraud. Students not only learn to protect themselves, but also know how to protect others, in line with the spirit of “Not alone”.

From the launching ceremony at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, the program "Tour 360 - Safe School in the Digital Age" has quickly spread to more than 30 high schools, universities and colleges in Ho Chi Minh City. Each destination attracts hundreds of students to participate in creative activities: infographic exhibition, musical "Online Kidnapping", discussion with police officers and psychological experts, interactive minigame "Phishing Code - Protect Yourself".

One of the most interesting topics in the propaganda sessions was the topic "Online kidnapping - The truth behind the screen". Captain Huynh Do Tan Thinh, Officer of the Criminal Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police, said: "There are currently more than 200 forms of online fraud, of which "online kidnapping" is the most dangerous trick. In Ho Chi Minh City alone, we have recorded 28 cases, in which the Criminal Police Department directly rescued more than 10 cases. Notably, the victims are often new students - people who have just left their families, have little experience and are easily manipulated psychologically".

According to Captain Tan Thinh, a common scenario is that a scammer impersonates a police officer and makes a video call to scare students “involved in a case”. Haunted by fear, the victim “locks” himself in a hotel room, carries out the scammer’s request, then the parents receive the video and are blackmailed.

Captain Thinh recommends that when receiving a suspicious call, stay calm, verify the information, and immediately contact relatives or the police. Families should have a "private code" to identify their children, to avoid being exploited by fake images. In particular, students should absolutely not lend or rent their bank accounts, because they may accidentally become accomplices.

Helping young people identify the "traps" of high-tech crime

Ho Chi Minh City Police have applied new propaganda methods that are close to young people. The propaganda sessions are not just dry presentations but are designed as a "360-degree experience tour", combining images, games, situational dramatization and interactive livestream. The campaign also built a Zalo group "Students with Security and Order" to quickly share official warnings, helping students promptly update new tricks of cybercriminals.

Major Dang Van Thang, representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Youth Union, said: “Equipping young people with digital defense skills is an urgent requirement. This series of activities is not only about propaganda, but also a connection between the Police - schools - parents - students to form a digital shield in schools. We hope that each student will become a cyber security protector for themselves and the community.”

Initial results show that, after just over two months of implementation, thousands of students have been directly trained; more than 200,000 people have followed and interacted with the "Tour 360" content on social networking platforms. Many schools have proactively established "Team 360" - a core group that maintains an internal warning channel, receives and handles information suspected of fraud.

The sessions not only help students be aware of cybercrime but also aim to build a culture of civilized behavior in the digital space. Many young people shared that after the program, they knew how to set strong passwords, check information sources, be wary of strange messages and not share personal photos without control.

According to statistics from the SAC Center, students who participated in the program found this activity very necessary and useful, and committed to becoming anti-fraud advocates at school. Many universities also integrate the topic of "Digital Safety" into the first-year activities for new students.

The success of the campaign “Not alone - The whole people fight against fraud” shows the power of synchronous coordination between forces. Ho Chi Minh City Police takes on a professional role, directly propagating and providing real-life situations; the Department of Education and Training directs the extensive implementation at educational institutions; the SAC Center organizes and disseminates content to students through social networks, clubs and extracurricular programs.

From practical activities, “Not alone - The whole people fight against fraud” has become a campaign with strong influence in schools. More than a propaganda program, this is an effort of the whole society to protect the young generation from the risk of cybercrime. Through this, students not only protect themselves but can also join hands with their families, relatives and friends to participate in the work of preventing fraud, especially online fraud, contributing to building a safe and healthy school and community environment.

With that determination, “Tour 360 - Safe Schools in the Digital Age” - Joining hands to protect schools from cybercrime organized by Ho Chi Minh City Police in coordination with the City's Student Support Center is being proposed to expand to other provinces and cities, aiming at the goal: “No one is left behind in the journey to fight fraud, for a safe, brave and kind young generation in the digital space”.
