On the evening of May 11 at the Hanoi Opera House, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations in collaboration with Bao Son Group and Bao Son Foundation organized the Bao Son Award Ceremony 2024.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung affirmed: This is an important event to honor outstanding research projects and clusters of projects with high scientific and practical value, making practical contributions to the rapid and sustainable development of the country.

The award ceremony is also a concrete example of private enterprises proactively participating in implementing major policies of the Party and State on science and technology development, especially in the context that our country is making efforts to focus on implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation and Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW of the Politburo on private economic development.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized that currently, the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation is becoming a decisive factor in the sustainable development of countries and peoples. Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW affirmed: Science, technology, innovation and digital transformation are a key driving force for socio-economic development, a pillar for Vietnam to become a developed, high-income country. To realize that aspiration, Vietnam needs a strong innovation ecosystem, an advanced science and technology, linked to practice, to businesses and to the country's sustainable development needs.

Congratulating the authors of the four outstanding scientific works honored, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung praised the great contributions of the country's scientific and technological intellectuals, not only improving the quality of human resources but also creating solid foundations for the sustainable socio-economic development of Vietnam.

At the same time, highly appreciate Bao Son Education and Training Fund and Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations for annually organizing award ceremonies for outstanding scientific works in many fields over the past 15 years.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Son, Chairman of Bao Son Fund, Nguyen Truong Son informed: Thoroughly grasping the guiding ideology of the Party and State leaders that science and technology development and innovation are the only way to develop the country and improve people's lives, meeting the increasing needs of the people, Bao Son Award will be maintained and developed in the future.

"In addition to the funds that have existed since 2010, Bao Son Group has contributed an additional 500 billion VND to the Bao Son Awards to use savings interest for award payments. Bao Son Group also dedicates 30% of its assets to sponsor the Bao Son Awards long-term, the value of the awards will increase annually with an amount equivalent to 10,000 USD for each year of each award.

Thus, it is expected that by the end of the 21st century, the value of each award will increase to the equivalent of 1 million USD, meaning the annual budget for the award will be 5 million USD," emphasized the Chairman of Bao Son Group.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Son pledged and expressed his hope that the awarding of the Bao Son Award 2024 will encourage scientists, technologists and inventors to maximize their intellectual talents, contribute to the Fatherland, and contribute to the rising era of the Vietnamese people.

According to the Organizing Committee, the Bao Son Award Council 2024 has received 28 scientific and technological works registered for the award. With the spirit of scientific, serious and impartial work, the Preliminary Council and the Final Council have agreed and decided to select 4 outstanding works in 4 fields to award.

These projects are considered to have made remarkable advances in research and application of technology, bringing practical value and high socio-economic efficiency, contributing to promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of life.

Over the past 14 years (2011-2025), Bao Son Foundation and Bao Son Award founded by Mr. Nguyen Truong Son, Chairman of Bao Son Group, have become a prestigious brand in the community. The awarded projects have been effectively applied, making outstanding contributions and positively influencing the development of the economy, culture, society and people of Vietnam.

Four authors were awarded the prize, including:

- Dr. Nguyen Van Diep received the Bao Son Award 2024 in the field of Animal Protection and Environment for his work on Research and production of African swine fever vaccine.

- Hero of Labor, People's Physician, Associate Professor, Doctor Tran Ngoc Luong received the Bao Son Award 2024 in the field of Health Sciences with the research project on the application of endoscopic surgery in the treatment of some thyroid diseases.

- Professor, Doctor of Science Nguyen Dinh Duc received the 2024 Bao Son Award in the field of Engineering Technology with his work on Research and application of advanced three-phase composite materials and structures in engineering.

- Professor, Dr. Furuta Motoo received the 2024 Bao Son Prize in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities with his work History of Ethnic Policy of Vietnamese Communists.

This year's prize is worth 3.1 billion VND/prize (equivalent to 120,000 USD).
