Speaking at the opening of the conference, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang said that Dong Nai is ranked among the top 6 provinces and cities in the country in terms of economic development, budget collection, and foreign investment attraction. Up to now, the province has 31 operating industrial parks, 4 industrial clusters with basically completed general technical infrastructure, 11 urban areas with approved planning and are in the process of review and adjustment.

Along with the socio-economic achievements, the province is also facing great environmental pressure in urban areas, industrial zones/clusters and rural areas. These include environmental pollution, waste generation and deterioration of water, air, and soil quality, etc., affecting people's lives and the province's sustainable development.

In recent times, the province has issued many policies to improve the effectiveness of environmental protection. In addition to the achieved results, environmental quality control still has shortcomings and limitations.

The provincial People's Committee leaders requested departments, branches, localities, industrial park management boards, enterprises and delegates attending this conference to assess the overall environmental situation in urban areas, industrial parks/clusters and rural areas of the province. Share models and experiences in pollution control and environmental quality improvement.

Propose specific solutions on mechanisms, policies, science and technology, investment and public-private partnership to enhance the effectiveness of environmental management. Propose orientations for socio-economic development associated with environmental protection and climate change adaptation in the coming time.

At the conference, departments, sectors, localities and enterprises reported on the current situation, proposed solutions and recommendations to improve the efficiency of wastewater and solid waste collection and treatment in urban areas; develop industrial clusters in a green direction, save energy and protect the environment...

Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang assessed that the conference identified four key contents: the current state of environmental pollution in some urban and rural areas is posing urgent requirements for domestic wastewater treatment and urban environmental infrastructure restructuring; many industrial clusters do not have centralized wastewater treatment systems or do not strictly comply with environmental standards. This is a major "gap" that needs to be urgently overcome with more specific and effective solutions; enterprises are the main force and pioneers in technological innovation, investment in waste treatment systems and cleaner production; the role of authorities at all levels in planning, monitoring, and supporting enterprises and the community is also emphasized, aiming for an effective and synchronous environmental governance model.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment fully synthesizes the opinions and recommendations at the conference for research and advice to the province to direct departments, branches and sectors to proactively develop specific action plans to strictly control waste sources that pose a risk of causing environmental pollution, and strengthen environmental quality monitoring. Continue to review and adjust policies to better mobilize resources for environmental protection, especially in urban wastewater treatment, investment in industrial cluster infrastructure and support businesses to transform to green, clean and circular production models.
