Dong Nai creates breakthrough in rural tourism development

To implement the Prime Minister's direction, in 2023, both Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc provinces previously had plans to develop rural tourism for the period 2023-2025. Developing rural tourism based on traditional cultural values, environment, and landscapes of rural areas contributes to shifting the rural economic structure and building sustainable new rural areas.

Many typical rural tourism products

In recent years, Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc provinces have had tourism development strategies based on the advantages of each locality and have achieved certain results.

Many rural tourism products have been formed, many farmers have taken advantage of the natural landscape of the countryside as well as the characteristics of local agricultural products to exploit tourism, becoming tourist communities that attract visitors from inside and outside the province to visit. Binh Loc Eco-tourism Village (in Binh Loc Ward), Xuan Bac Community Tourism Village (in Xuan Bac Commune), the Community Tourism model of the M'nong and Stieng ethnic groups in the buffer zone of Bu Gia Map National Park, the Community Tourism model to experience the cultural activities of the Stieng people in the Stieng Ethnic Cultural Conservation Area of Bom Bo Soc (in Bom Bo Commune) ... have become unique tourism products, bearing the imprint of local cultural identity.

In the 10 months of 2025, the number of visitors to Dong Nai reached over 4.6 million. Tourism service revenue reached over 3.3 trillion VND, reaching 86.9% of the 2025 plan.

Bu Gia Map National Park is located in the North of Dong Nai province, with a total natural area of over 25,500 hectares located in the two communes of Bu Gia Map and Dak O. Of which, the majority of the park's area is located in Bu Gia Map commune, where over 70% of the population are M'nong and Stieng ethnic people living.

Director of Bu Gia Map National Park Vuong Duc Hoa said: In recent years, in parallel with the task of protecting and developing forests, the park has always paid attention to and prioritized investment in developing ecotourism, gradually contributing to creating livelihoods and increasing income for people in the buffer zone, promoting local economic development associated with nature conservation. By 2025, the ecotourism products of the National Park will be recognized as 3-star OCOP (One Commune One Product) tourism products. This has demonstrated the potential and important role of the National Park in developing green, clean tourism and community tourism in border areas.

According to Mr. Vuong Duc Hoa, every year, the number of tourists visiting and experiencing Bu Gia Map National Park is increasing and stable. The target group of tourists visiting and experiencing here are students, young people who love nature, love to explore, experience natural forests and learn about local ethnic culture.

Towards sustainable development

With efforts in building rural tourism products in localities, Dong Nai has made a breakthrough in developing rural tourism products. Many rural destinations are exploited by people from gardens that are economically inefficient in cultivation but economically efficient in the tourism sector because of their unique locations and natural landscapes, such as destinations: Lung Trung May, Bay Bon Mua... in La Nga commune; Don Binh Minh Farm destination in Dong Xoai ward...

In particular, Dong Nai province currently has 4 tourism products that meet 3-star OCOP standards, including: Gia Canh discovery product "Peaceful Land" of Meerkat Travel Tourism Services Company Limited, in Dinh Quan commune; Xuan Bac community experience tourism village of Xuan Bac commune's fruit garden eco-tourism cooperative group; Xuan Loc cocoa experience tourism of Suoi Cat cocoa agricultural service cooperative, Xuan Loc commune and Bu Gia Map National Park eco-tourism product of the Center for Propaganda, tourism and rescue and conservation in Bu Gia Map commune.

To continue developing tourism products with a unique mark for Dong Nai, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is building the tourism product "Tan Trieu Cultural - Tourism Village". This will be a typical tourism product of the province, implemented in the specialty growing area of Tan Trieu grapefruit in Tan Trieu ward.

Having experienced many destinations in rural areas of Dong Nai, Mr. Tran Quoc Nhan (residing in Tran Bien ward, Dong Nai province) shared: Dong Nai has many impressive destinations, which can be explored seasonally or year-round. To admire the beautiful natural scenery and enjoy the specialties of Tri An lake, you can go to Tri An lake area to camp, row a boat on the lake and enjoy delicious dishes. When the fruit season is ripe (from May to August every year), you can go to famous fruit regions of Dong Nai in Binh Loc, Xuan Loc... According to Mr. Nhan, these are destinations with rich cultural, historical and customary values of local people with very interesting experiences.

Not stopping at the achieved results, Dong Nai province is continuing to make efforts to promote comprehensive tourism development, including the field of rural tourism, to exploit all the potentials and outstanding results of the province in building new rural areas. Dong Nai is also standardizing the province's rural tourism destinations and products, while promoting rural tourism development associated with the digital transformation process, product promotion...

Sharing about the efforts to develop rural tourism in the province in recent years and in the coming time, Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Thi Ngoc Loan said: In recent times, the province has had policies to support investment in developing rural tourism. In particular, prioritizing capital allocation from the state budget for training and coaching tourism human resources, consulting households on product development, developing tourism technical infrastructure systems in rural areas in line with market orientation. In addition, the department strengthens inter-sectoral coordination, manages rural tourism destinations; improves the effectiveness of promotion and connection of destinations; and at the same time improves the quality of tourism human resources in rural areas, aiming to contribute to the diversity of tourism products in Dong Nai.

At the same time, the department has researched and proposed investment policies and mechanisms to develop rural tourism products connecting with travel agencies to bring tourists to the countryside quite effectively, contributing to promoting destinations and gradually building the image of Dong Nai on the domestic and world tourism map.
