Crowds of people in Ho Chi Minh City lined up to buy roasted chicken and duck for the Dragon Boat Festival offerings.

TPO - On the Dragon Boat Festival (the 5th day of the 5th lunar month), many people prepare offerings for their ancestral altars, and roasted chicken and duck are indispensable dishes. Therefore, famous roasted meat shops in Ho Chi Minh City are packed with customers from early morning.

The Dragon Boat Festival in 2024 falls on June 10th. From early morning, the roasted meat shops on Bui Huu Nghia Street (District 5) were already crowded with people queuing to buy roasted chicken and duck to offer as sacrifices on their ancestral altars.

Every store was packed with people, and many who couldn't wait had hired ride-hailing drivers to buy their goods for them.

Most customers have to wait 15-30 minutes to buy roasted pork.

Prices on the Dragon Boat Festival are no different from regular days, around 450,000 VND per roasted chicken or duck.

The staff arranged the sales area right next to the sidewalk to make it easier to serve customers.

"The District 5 area has many famous and delicious roasted pork shops. I come here to buy from every year. Although I have to wait because it's crowded, the staff are very quick and professional," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly (resident of District 8).

Around 9 am, crowds of people lined up to buy meat for the Dragon Boat Festival offerings. According to many people's beliefs, because the offering tray must be set up before midnight, everyone was trying to buy early.

The roasted meat is ready to be delivered to customers who placed orders before the offering ceremony.

A person breathed a sigh of relief after finishing their shopping, weaving through the crowded streets to get home and prepare the offerings for the Tet holiday.
