Design and connectivity

The Dreame AirPursue PM20 has an appearance similar to some high-end air purifiers from other brands. The device weighs nearly 18kg and has overall dimensions slightly larger than most common air purifiers on the market.

A positive feature is that the base is equipped with a system of four wheels, allowing users to move the device between rooms or different locations in the house without much effort.

The cylindrical area at the bottom houses the dust filtration system. The outer casing is covered with a perforated, bronze-colored baffle. This baffle can be easily removed and cleaned using a magnetic attachment. Meanwhile, the upper body, with its dome-shaped design, is where the main air outlet is located and can rotate 180 degrees.

The Dreame AirPursue PM20 features built-in physical buttons on the device itself and a remote control for user-adjustable functions. The front has a magnetic attachment point for the remote control to prevent loss. However, this magnetic attachment isn't very strong, so if placed incorrectly or carelessly, the remote control can still fall off.

In addition, the device also supports connection with the Dreamehome app on smartphones for more intuitive control. Through the app, users can set operating modes, monitor information about air quality, consumables status, and device maintenance schedule.

The app also displays a graph showing the air quality trends throughout the day. Users can monitor and identify the periods when air pollution is highest, and then plan accordingly to minimize the impact of the external environment.

The device also supports voice interaction. However, it's quite unfortunate that this feature is currently only supported in English.

Performance and features

The Dreame AirPursue PM20 uses a 4-layer filtration system. The outermost magnetic layer acts as a shield, preventing dust, hair, and large particles from entering and protecting the internal filters. This layer also extends the lifespan of the HEPA filter.

The main filter layer uses a high-performance composite filter capable of retaining ultrafine dust particles with a filtration efficiency of up to 99.97%. In addition, the filter can remove allergens such as pollen, dust, viruses, bacteria, and other small particles.

Thirdly, there's an activated carbon layer capable of absorbing and retaining toluene, VOCs, and other harmful volatile organic compounds to reduce indoor air pollution, such as cigarette smoke. Finally, there's a formaldehyde filter layer specifically designed to treat formaldehyde.

In addition to its multi-layered physical filtration system, the machine is also equipped with two sterilization technologies: UVC photomolecular technology and Plasma Nova technology. This combination provides better sterilization and deodorization capabilities, helping to eliminate bacteria and viruses trapped on the filter.

The Dreame AirPursue PM20's filtration system is designed in two parts and covers nearly 360 degrees, providing consistent air filtration in almost every corner. It can trap ultrafine dust particles and allergens as small as 0.3 microns, and can also handle 14 types of pollutants and 9 common types of bacteria and viruses.

The device also incorporates Enviro Detect technology, which tracks user movement in real time, automatically turns on the machine, and adjusts the airflow direction to the correct location.

Specifically, the device will use radar to detect the presence and movement of users within its operating range. When a person is detected within a 3-meter radius, the air purifier will automatically turn on without needing to manually press the power button.

The sensor continuously records the user's position within a coverage area of approximately 120 degrees in front of the device and a range of up to 5 meters. When there is only one person, the airflow will be directed towards that person. When there are multiple people, the airflow will move from left to right, ensuring even air distribution.

In addition to its filtering and cooling capabilities, the Dreame Air Purifier PM20 also integrates a heating function. The device can warm the air and reach a temperature of 40°C at the air outlet in just 3 seconds. Users can adjust the desired temperature from 0 to 40°C via the buttons on the remote control or through the app.

Of course, users shouldn't expect this feature to replace dedicated heaters or air conditioners. Integrating a heating function is seen as a solution to deliver clean air to users without causing a chilling sensation, especially in cold weather conditions like winter.

Practical experience shows that the heating feature works most effectively when the user is within a radius of 2 meters. The airflow directed towards the seating area is still noticeably warm. If the seating distance is greater than 3 meters from the device, the user will barely feel any warmth.
