As the largest community of international students in Korea, Vietnamese students studying and working in the land of kimchi are also particularly interested in the results achieved from General Secretary To Lam's visit to Korea.
Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Nguyen Van Thien (name changed), a graduate student on Korea at a university in the capital Seoul, said he has high expectations for the state visit of General Secretary To Lam.
Hope to establish Vietnamese Cultural Center in Korea
He expressed his belief that the trip is an opportunity for the leaders of the two countries to elevate the Vietnam-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to a new stage of development, both in quantity and quality.
Mr. Thien shared: "I expect the leaders of the two countries to reach breakthrough agreements in many aspects, typically cooperation in high-tech fields that require a large amount of intelligence such as semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence (AI), and green energy.
This not only helps Vietnam participate more deeply in the global supply chain but also creates many high-quality job opportunities for the young generation, including Vietnamese students who return home to start their own businesses after graduation."
Mr. Thien pays special attention to cooperation in the fields of people-to-people exchange and education . According to him, what Vietnamese students in Korea most desire is a more open visa policy for international students, skilled workers and tourists.
Notably, he expected the two governments to recognize each other's degrees, creating favorable conditions for study and research.
The Vietnamese PhD student in Korea added: "I hope there will be more initiatives to support the Vietnamese community in Korea to integrate into the host society, as well as programs to promote Vietnamese culture in Korea.
This can be achieved through the establishment of the Vietnam Cultural Center in Korea, thereby strengthening the solid foundation of friendship between the people of the two countries."

Meanwhile, MSc. Nguyen Hoang Lien Thao (majoring in aesthetics and art), currently studying and researching in Korea, hopes that the visit will promote deeper educational cooperation, especially in her field.
She shared: "Currently, aesthetic education in Vietnam is mainly vocational training, there is no outstanding regular university program. I hope Korea can send teachers and professors to teach in Vietnam, helping to elevate the aesthetic industry to an official university major."
In addition, she also hopes that the governments of the two countries will have agreements to help former international students who studied in Korea easily apply for visas to return for higher education, thereby reducing the financial burden.
"I want to return to Vietnam to teach after completing my studies and will return to Korea to pursue a doctorate at the right time. I hope the two countries can make visa procedures easier for those who have studied and worked in Korea. This will greatly reduce the financial burden on me and other international students," Ms. Thao shared.
Finally, she hopes that the two countries can cooperate closely to help lower the cost of importing cosmetic equipment from Korea.
She believes that if major Korean brands expand in Vietnam, Vietnamese consumers will be able to access genuine goods at more competitive prices.
