The Prime Minister has just signed a Decision approving the planning of border gates on the Vietnam - China land border for the 2021 - 2030 period with a vision to 2050.
The planning scope of border gates on the Vietnam - China land border includes the provinces: Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang , Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien.
Accordingly, in the period of 2021 - 2030, 8 international border gates, 9 bilateral border gates, 17 customs clearance routes/specialized roads for transporting goods in pairs of international border gates, bilateral border gates and 1 special opening/border gate will be opened and upgraded.
It is expected that by 2030, the Vietnam - China border will have 26 border gates, including 14 international border gates, 12 bilateral border gates (including 20 customs clearance routes/specialized routes for transporting goods in pairs of international border gates, bilateral border gates) and 01 special opening/border gate.

Of the 17 customs clearance routes/specialized routes for transporting goods at international border gates and bilateral border gates opened in 07 provinces, Lao Cai has 6 customs clearance routes/specialized routes for transporting goods, including: Ban Quan - Son Yeu belonging to the international road border gate pair Lao Cai (Lao Cai) - Ha Khau (Yunnan); Na Loc - Ma Hoang Pao belonging to the international road border gate pair Lao Cai (Lao Cai) - Ha Khau (Yunnan); Lo Co Chin - Lao Kha belonging to the international border gate pair Muong Khuong (Lao Cai) - Kieu Dau (Yunnan); Lung Po - Lung Po Chai belonging to the international border gate pair Ban Vuoc (Lao Cai) - Pa Sa (Yunnan); Y Ty - Ma Ngan Ty belonging to the international border gate pair Ban Vuoc (Lao Cai) - Pa Sa (Yunnan).
With the opening and upgrading of 8 international border gates, 9 bilateral border gates, 17 customs clearance routes/specialized roads for transporting goods at pairs of international border gates, bilateral border gates and 1 special opening/border gate, the investment orientation, upgrading and expansion of infrastructure and technical equipment serving border gate activities set out in the Plan are: Gradually completing the traffic infrastructure connecting the border gates with the inland, connecting with the border gates on the other side of the border and traffic in the border gate area and investing in modern technical equipment, meeting the standards prescribed in Decree No. 34/2023/ND-CP dated June 16, 2023 of the Government amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 112/2012/ND-CP dated November 21, 2014 of the Government regulating the management of land border gates;
When planning the border gate area, it is necessary to arrange the joint working area of state management agencies at the border gate, the area for warehouses and yards serving the work of gathering, checking and supervising import and export goods at the border gates; arrange land locations in the border gate area to ensure conditions for customs inspection and supervision such as places for gathering, checking and supervising import and export goods at the border gate to meet the work of state management on customs and ensure trade facilitation; arrange locations for installing equipment of immigration, customs and quarantine agencies at the border gate area, meeting the requirements of inspection, supervision and management of import and export goods, means of entry and exit and implementing prevention, suppression and combat against smuggling, trade fraud and illegal transportation of goods across the border.../.
