The Military Region 9 swimming pool was approved by the Ministry of National Defense for investment and construction funding. The project is a project to repair, renovate and upgrade a swimming pool with an area of ​​3,000m² , with a total investment of 8 billion VND. After more than 5 months of urgent, serious and proper construction, the project was completed and strictly inspected.

On this occasion, National Defense Sports Center 4 officially changed the name "Anh Vien Swimming Club" to "Military Region 9 Swimming Club".

Delegates performed the inauguration ceremony of the Military Region 9 swimming pool project.

After more than 25 years of construction and development, the National Defense Sports Center 4 has become one of the leading units in high-performance sports training of the Army and the whole country. Many outstanding swimmers have grown up from the Military Region 9 Swimming Pool, notably: Athlete Nguyen Thi Anh Vien with 5 times participating in the SEA Games, breaking and holding many regional records; Athlete Nguyen Thuy Hien contributed to the achievements of the Army swimming team with 164 national medals, 39 international medals, breaking 33 national records and 10 international records; Athlete Nguyen Quang Thuan won 177 medals, competed in 6 international tournaments, won 35 medals and broke 5 international records; ... and many other outstanding young athletes.

In the coming time, when the swimming pool is officially put into use, National Defense Sports Center 4 will focus on promoting recruitment, searching and training of talented swimmers in the Mekong Delta region.
