Binh Thuan tourism is profitable

On the evening of December 27, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province to organize the closing ceremony of the National Tourism Year 2023 with the theme "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence". The National Tourism Year 2023 has continuously held 208 national and international events; of which Binh Thuan alone organized over 30 events.

The series of events in the National Tourism Year 2023 were organized in a unique and novel way, bringing together the typical strengths of Binh Thuan province, creating a positive social effect, contributing to promoting and spreading cultural values ​​and tourism products to domestic and international tourists. In particular, raising awareness of green tourism development; contributing to promoting tourism recovery and development.

According to the General Statistics Office, the number of international tourists to Vietnam in 2023 is estimated at 13 million, the total number of domestic tourists is estimated at over 102 million. Particularly for Binh Thuan, the organization of the National Tourism Year 2023 not only contributes to the recovery of the tourism industry but also creates momentum for rapid and sustainable growth. According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan province, the total number of visitors and tourist accommodation to the locality in 2023 is estimated at 8.35 million, an increase of 45.98% compared to 2022; tourism revenue is estimated at 22,300 billion VND, an increase of about 63% compared to 2022. The above targets have helped Binh Thuan tourism reach the finish line 1 month before the end of 2023 and officially enter the group of few localities in the country with tourism revenue of over 20,000 billion VND.

In addition to the effects from the National Tourism Year 2023, the official operation of the two expressways Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay has helped the number of visitors from the Southeast provinces, including Ho Chi Minh City, to Mui Ne - Binh Thuan increase sharply.

The boom of Binh Thuan tourism in 2023 is associated with the organization of the National Tourism Year event, but according to tourism businesses, there are still limitations that Binh Thuan needs to overcome to move towards sustainable tourism growth. In particular, the decline in the Russian tourist market during the winter holidays has more or less affected the total number of international visitors to Mui Ne. In addition, the story of "too many places to sleep, not enough places to play" is a problem that Binh Thuan needs to solve to attract tourists to return here.

According to the General Statistics Office, tourism is a bright spot in economic recovery. The results of tourism recovery have had a spillover effect on many sectors, contributing to improving the three growth drivers of the economy: investment, export and consumption. In recent years, Vietnamese tourism has received 54 awards at the 2023 Asia-Pacific regional awards ceremony of the World Travel Awards, continuing to affirm the brand and position of Vietnamese tourism on the world tourism map.
