Central Vietnam tourism is bustling during the April 30 - May 1 holiday

On the first day of the April 30 - May 1 holiday, Da Nang City recorded tens of thousands of visitors flocking to famous tourist destinations such as Son Tra Peninsula, Ngu Hanh Son, Linh Ung Pagoda or central beaches.

At Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park alone, nearly 5,000 visitors came to enjoy and relax on April 30, with a 100% occupancy rate. It is expected that during the 5-day holiday, this tourist area will welcome a total of about 25,000 visitors.

No less exciting, Sun World Ba Na Hills continues to affirm its position as a “tourist paradise” of Da Nang when the number of visitors increased by about 30% compared to the same period last year. From early morning, thousands of visitors lined up to experience the cable car, explore the unique cultural space and the “Freedom” buffet program that evoked memories of the subsidy period. The image of hundreds of employees forming the national flag and dancing flashmob to the music “Vietnam, oh” also left a strong impression, spreading the spirit of patriotism on the important holiday.

The Da Nang Department of Tourism said that this year's holiday season, the city is expected to receive about 692 flights (an increase of 16% compared to 2024), with 285 international flights and 407 domestic flights. In addition, Da Nang also welcomed an international cruise ship with about 2,000 tourists from many countries. The number of visitors arriving by rail also increased significantly, estimated at more than 13,200.

In Quang Nam , beach tourism continues to assert its appeal as beaches from Dien Ban to Tam Ky are packed with tourists. With temperatures approaching 40 degrees Celsius, beaches such as An Bang, Cua Dai, Thong Nhat, Tam Tien, Tam Thanh... become ideal choices to escape the heat. Citadines Pearl Hoi An Resort recorded a room occupancy rate of nearly 70%, welcoming an average of 1,200 guests/day, an increase of more than 50% compared to normal days.

Not only the sea, the province's heritage destinations are also crowded with tourists. At My Son Sanctuary, the number of visitors increased by about 20% compared to normal, mainly international visitors. Meanwhile, although Hoi An ancient town is crowded, the number of tickets sold is not proportional. According to the Hoi An City Center for Culture, Information and Tourism, only about 5,500 tickets are sold each day, mostly to tourists traveling on tours or international visitors.

The highlight of this year's holiday is the Dong Giang Heaven Gate Eco-Tourism Area, which officially opened after 2 years of trial operation. On April 30 and May 1, the Fivitel Song Ngan Hotel in the tourist area was fully booked. This destination promises to become a "new star" of Quang Nam mountainous tourism when the first cable car line in the province is put into operation in the second quarter of 2024.

In addition, Quang Nam province also welcomed many big names to come to relax such as coach Park Hang Seo, tennis player Roger Federer or golfer Sir Nick Faldo. The presence of these stars not only created a media buzz but also contributed to affirming the attractiveness and class of Quang Nam tourism.

In total, Quang Nam is expected to welcome about 233,000 visitors during the holiday, of which international visitors will reach 132,000 (up 10% compared to 2023). However, domestic visitors decreased by 19%, causing the total number of visitors to decrease slightly by 5% compared to the same period last year.

Quang Nam's two UNESCO-recognized world cultural heritages, Hoi An ancient town and My Son sanctuary, are still top destinations for tourists during the April 30 - May 1 holiday.

In Quang Ngai , Ly Son Island continues to be the “center” of tourist attraction. According to the People’s Committee of Ly Son District, the island welcomed about 7,000 visitors during this holiday, and all 1,200 rooms of 118 accommodation establishments were fully booked many weeks ago.

Room rates this year remain stable, ranging from VND250,000/room at budget motels to VND1.2 million/room at luxury hotels. Despite high demand, establishments have pledged not to increase prices. The Ly Son district government has also implemented many measures to ensure safety, control service quality and security to bring a safe and civilized vacation to tourists.

Overall, the April 30 - May 1 holiday this year is a positive start to the summer tourist season in the Central region. The significant increase in the number of visitors, stable and diverse services, and a series of unique activities show that the regional tourism industry is recovering strongly after a period of stagnation.

Along with maintaining quality, increasing new products and focusing on cultural factors and local experiences, Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai are gradually shaping their position as leading destinations for Vietnamese tourism on the regional map.
