Quang Tri has a coastline of about 75 km, located at the intersection of the East-West Economic Corridor, creating an important "gateway" connecting key economic routes of the country. Not only possessing a beautiful coastline, Quang Tri also has many historical relics and landmarks bearing the mark of a heroic past and memories of war.
Tourist destinations such as Vinh Moc, Con Co Island, Cua Tung, Cua Viet, Gio Hai... are not only ideal destinations for tourists but also evidence of the intersection between nature and history. The combination of natural and cultural elements creates a special attraction for the tourism industry, contributing to shaping the Quang Tri tourism brand on the tourism map of the Central region.
This natural advantage not only helps expand trade links but also creates favorable conditions for the development of marine tourism - one of the key sectors of the marine economy. This is demonstrated by the Government's issuance of Decision No. 892/QD-TTg dated July 26, 2022, affirming the investment interest in developing marine economic clusters and marine economic centers that meet modern standards, by 2030. This decision is considered a "compass" for localities such as Quang Tri to develop infrastructure and services for marine tourism in a systematic and sustainable manner.
2024 marks the beginning of a strong recovery for Quang Tri's tourism industry after the difficulties caused by the impact of COVID-19. Quang Tri welcomed more than 3 million visitors, including about 168,000 international visitors, an increase of 48.6% compared to 2023. This increase not only demonstrates the confidence of domestic and international tourists in the destination of Quang Tri but also affirms the effectiveness of policies to support tourism recovery implemented from the central to local levels.

In addition to the impressive growth in the number of visitors, social revenue from the tourism industry also shows signs of strong recovery with an estimated level of about VND 2,400 billion, an increase of 31.8% compared to 2023. These figures show that tourism is not only a key economic sector but also an important driving force for the development of the marine economy and local economy. The growth in tourism revenue has created many jobs, stimulated the service industry, and attracted investment in infrastructure to serve tourists, thereby contributing to creating a long-term and sustainable economic value chain.
Currently, tourism establishments in Quang Tri have stepped up updating and innovating tourism products to meet the increasingly diverse needs of tourists. Not only focusing on traditional beaches such as Cua Tung, Cua Viet, Gio Hai..., localities have also developed new forms of tourism such as eco-tourism, community tourism, historical-cultural tourism...
Diversifying tourism products helps Quang Tri not only expand its customer base but also create a sustainable competitive advantage in the context of the region having many potential destinations.
Marine tourism development strategy
Although Quang Tri has many natural strengths and cultural values, the province’s tourism industry still faces many challenges. One of the main issues that needs to be addressed is the lack of uniformity in the quality of tourism infrastructure, from transportation, accommodation, to ancillary services.
To attract tourists to Quang Tri, there needs to be specific solutions such as promoting investment in infrastructure, improving urban landscapes, restructuring traditional tourist areas and applying technology to tourism management. Thereby, the province’s tourism image will be enhanced, contributing to creating a positive spillover effect for the development of the marine economy.
2025 is identified as the key period for building the province's sea tourism brand. Therefore, Quang Tri province will promote investment in building coastal transport infrastructure and tourism service facilities, ensuring the convenience of tourists when traveling and experiencing key tourist areas. Projects such as the coastal road with a total investment of VND 2,060 billion will be the main driving force to promote the connection of local economic, business and tourism centers.
Organize communication campaigns and tourism promotion at domestic and international fairs to position the brand “Quang Tri Tourism - Destination of nature, history and passion for discovery”. The work of building the image of Quang Tri tourism is carried out synchronously between online and offline information channels, thereby spreading the message of a safe tourist destination, rich in professional products and services.

Develop new tourism products, combining cultural, historical and natural elements. In particular, develop themed tours, linking sea tourism and domestic tourism, creating rich and unique tourism experiences. In addition, it is necessary to focus on developing high-end tourism services and tourism support services such as cuisine, shopping, entertainment services... to improve the quality of tourists' experiences.
Strengthen training courses for officials and employees working in the tourism industry on professional knowledge, foreign languages and customer service skills, ensuring that each destination has complete services that meet the expectations of modern tourists.
In general, Quang Tri tourism industry with its geographical advantage, beautiful natural coastline and unique cultural and historical values is facing the opportunity for outstanding development. The outstanding figures of 2024 along with the development orientation for 2025 have affirmed the strong vitality of the tourism industry, not only contributing to promoting the development of the marine economy but also becoming a driving force to comprehensively promote the local economy.
