Duc Phuc won the biggest regional music award Intervision

Surpassing 22 contestants representing 22 other countries, Duc Phuc officially became the champion of the 'Intervision' contest - the 'counter' version of the famous 'Eurovision' brand.

At the finale that took place at 8 p.m. last night (September 20, Russia time), Duc Phuc impressed with the performance Phu Dong Thien Vuong composed by Ho Hoai Anh, with "brother" Phuc Du and "pretty girl" Orange helping to write the lyrics. From there, he became the champion with 422 points in total.

The song brings many Vietnamese influences when on stage the male singer wears a stylized ao dai and traditional conical hat. The song opens with 4 famous verses from the poem Vietnamese Bamboo by poet Nguyen Duy, praising the heroic and proud Vietnamese people through the ages, while emphasizing the strength of solidarity and the desire to rise up.

The mix combines pentatonic elements and modern electronic music , bringing a new feeling. Duc Phuc also shows off his special rapping ability, bringing an interesting highlight. The song also has English lyrics, conveying a special message to international friends.

An estimated 4.3 billion people watched the show this year. His performance of The Voice of Sunshine, performed 20th, is considered to have a big advantage.

At the press conference before the competition night, Yana Churikova - a famous Russian commentator gave many compliments to Duc Phuc: "The Vietnamese team has its own director and very serious direction. Duc Phuc both sang and paid attention to the choreography. The performance was well-organized, the scenery changed constantly, and the stage was exploited to the fullest."

After being crowned, the male singer shared: "I am very happy, thank the audience and judges for their love for Duc Phuc from Vietnam. On this day 10 years ago, I became the champion of The Voice Vietnam to 10 years after winning at Intervision ".

This is a contest launched by Russia at the suggestion of President Vladimir Putin to promote "unique cultural values". He said: "I believe Intervision will become one of the most recognized and loved competitions in the world , because through it, countries and cultures will respect each other and strengthen trust, thereby becoming richer spiritually".

This year, 23 countries had contestants, but the US representative withdrew at the last minute, and the representative from Russia asked not to judge because it was the host country. Other countries include Brazil, China, Cuba, Venezuela, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan...

Following Duc Phuc were representatives from Kyrgyzstan and Qatar, who won third place. The organizers said Saudi Arabia has agreed to host the contest next year.
