Nam Phuoc Highlight
For many years, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Nhiem's family life in My Hoa block (Nam Phuoc town, Duy Xuyen) has encountered many difficulties. Unstable employment and raising 3 young children of school age, Mr. Nhiem's family only cares about daily meals. Therefore, although the house is seriously degraded, he still tries to patch it up and stay temporarily, not daring to think about repairing or rebuilding.
Understanding Mr. Nhiem's situation, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nam Phuoc town inspected and supported a budget of 100 million VND. At the same time, it mobilized members and youth union members to contribute working days to help Mr. Nhiem's family build a new house.
“I never thought I would start building a house because life is so hard. Now, with the support of the Front and its member organizations, I will soon live in a new, spacious house and have better conditions to take care of my children, without fear when the rain and wind come,” Mr. Nhiem shared.
Mr. Do Thanh Minh - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nam Phuoc town said that in the period of 2019 - 2024, the Nam Phuoc town Front mobilized support to build 20 new gratitude houses and solidarity houses for families with preferential policies, difficult circumstances, poor and near-poor households with a total value of 1.3 billion VND.
To complete the plan to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the area, along with the attention of local authorities, the Nam Phuoc Town Front mobilized resources from the joint efforts of agencies, units, businesses, philanthropists and the entire social community.
“The support from the community in recent times has profound humanitarian meaning, demonstrating the spirit of mutual love and support, and is a great source of encouragement for the disadvantaged to rise up in life.
In 2025, in the first quarter alone, the Town Front supported the construction of 5 solidarity houses with a total amount of 310 million VND. And up to now, Nam Phuoc Town has basically completed the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the area. Thereby, not only realizing the dreams of poor households, but also giving them more motivation to strive and believe in a brighter future" - Mr. Minh said.
Determined to reach the finish line on time
Identifying social security work as a regular task, in recent times, Party committees, authorities, and the Fatherland Front at all levels in Duy Xuyen district have made efforts to participate and resolutely and effectively implement the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for people in difficult circumstances, helping them settle down and find work.
Mr. Dang Huu Phuc - Vice Chairman of Duy Xuyen District People's Committee said that, implementing Resolution No. 13 of the District People's Council, the locality has supported the construction of 34 new houses and the repair of 109 houses with a total amount of more than 8 billion VND. The heads of the households are all poor households, near-poor households according to the multidimensional standards for the period 2021 - 2025, disabled people, and single people without labor capacity.
Regarding housing according to Decision No. 21 of the Prime Minister , through survey and assessment, the whole district has 8 newly built and repaired houses with a total cost of nearly 300 million VND. Duy Xuyen strives to complete acceptance, final settlement and finish the implementation of this policy by June 15, 2025.
Duy Xuyen identified supporting housing for people with revolutionary contributions and eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households as a particularly important political task with profound humanitarian significance. At the same time, it demonstrates the concern of Party committees and authorities at all levels in implementing social security work with the motto "leaving no one behind".
Therefore, the district mobilizes the combined strength and all social resources, the spirit of solidarity of agencies, units, localities, business communities and people of all walks of life to jointly complete the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.
“The support plan is carefully researched and calculated in terms of house models, construction material needs... In particular, it promotes the responsibility of all levels and sectors, the participation and assistance of neighbors and families in supporting households to improve their housing; organizes support publicly, democratically, transparently, and in accordance with regulations, avoiding loss, waste, and negativity.
Through this, we contribute to improving the material and spiritual life of poor households and households with housing difficulties, gradually perfecting the criteria for residential housing in the program of building advanced new rural districts" - Mr. Phuc shared.
