On August 1, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) announced the establishment of 9 new power companies after the administrative boundary merger. Accordingly, 5 new power companies were established in the merged areas: Thuan An Power, Binh Duong Power, Ben Cat Power, Dat Do Power and Vung Tau Power.
Four new companies were established on the basis of merging old units, including: Saigon Electricity Company (merged from Saigon Electricity, Tan Binh, part of Phu Tho and Gia Dinh); Tan Thuan Electricity Company (merged from Tan Thuan and Duyen Hai); Gia Dinh Electricity Company (merged Gia Dinh and part of Go Vap); Cho Lon Electricity Company (merged Cho Lon, Tan Phu and part of Phu Tho).

The other 6 power companies still maintain the same organization: Thu Duc, Binh Chanh, Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, An Phu Dong and Binh Phu.
Thus, there are currently 15 power companies under the Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation after restructuring. The electricity industry recommends that people need to monitor information to contact the right person when support is needed.
A representative of Ho Chi Minh City Electricity Corporation said that the administrative boundary merger has opened up a wider development space for the city, while also placing great pressure on the demand for electricity, service quality and increasingly high technical requirements. Many large load areas such as data centers, high-tech factories, metro systems, etc. all require stable electricity quality and high reliability.
However, receiving power units from the two merged provinces also poses challenges due to the asynchronous organizational model, different infrastructure and technical level.

According to EVNHCMC, some indicators on power supply reliability, grid automation, customer request processing time, etc. in new areas are still far from the standards that the corporation has previously achieved.
Therefore, the HCMC electricity sector has determined that the immediate task is to stabilize the organizational structure, ensure uninterrupted power supply, and at the same time develop a roadmap to renovate the power system in new areas in the next 2-3 years.
Previously, at the technical conference at the end of July, EVNHCMC's specialized units supported the new companies in installing machinery and systems, ensuring uninterrupted operation immediately after the merger.
Five new power companies in Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau (old) also reported some initial difficulties in the process of converting their operating models. However, by August 1, all had basically operated stably according to the general model of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation.
