Sa Dec Flower Festival is expected to be held at the end of December 2023

DTO - On the morning of June 1, in Sa Dec City, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Thien Nghia and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Phuoc Thien met with establishments, businesses, and ornamental flower growers to listen to comments on organizing the first Sa Dec Flower Festival in 2023.

According to Mr. Ngo Quang Tuyen - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the first Sa Dec Flower Festival in 2023 will be organized at the provincial level, with the theme "Sa Dec - Love of the land - Love of flowers", expected to take place from December 30, 2023 - January 5, 2024, in Sa Dec City and expand activities to connect with some neighboring localities (Cao Lanh City, districts: Lap Vo, Lai Vung, Chau Thanh, Cao Lanh). Sa Dec Flower Festival aims to honor the Sa Dec ornamental flower growing profession, promote the economic value of flower and ornamental products (key products in the Project on restructuring the agricultural sector of Dong Thap province); promote the development of the ornamental flower industry associated with the development of agricultural tourism and the national program of one commune, one product - OCOP to attract tourists to visit and travel to Sa Dec City in particular, Dong Thap province in general; Introduce and promote Sa Dec Flower Village brand to domestic and foreign tourists.

Sa Dec Flower Festival includes 8 main activities: flower and ornamental space; opening ceremony; honoring Sa Dec flower and ornamental growing profession; exhibition contest connecting trade of domestic and international flower and ornamental products associated with OCOP products of districts and cities; beautiful flower gate decoration contest; workshop on enhancing the value chain of flower and ornamental industry in Dong Thap province and the Mekong Delta; graceful floral ao dai contest; closing summary of Flower Festival.

At the same time, Sa Dec Flower Festival also organizes response programs (11 activities) such as: contest to learn about the history of the formation of Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Village; a hundred-year-old Cai Luong art performance by the Sa Giang River; an art exchange program of amateur music, folk songs, and folk songs from Dong Thap and other provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta; a paper flower market; a village market for ornamental flowers; a flower arrangement contest...

Excited about the organization of the Flower Festival, many establishments, businesses, and ornamental flower growers said they would accompany the province and locality in organizing activities at the Sa Dec Flower Festival. To better serve the organization of the Festival, many flower and ornamental plant growers suggested that the Organizing Committee should review the time of the Festival; determine the main flower types so that people can prepare accordingly. In addition, add some programs and items such as: organizing a rose road; apricot flower market; building a Sa Dec flower road (in addition to the Sa Nhien - Cai Dao flower road); arranging suitable parking lots; deploying and linking restaurants and hotels to better serve visitors to the event...

Thanking the enthusiastic contributions of establishments, businesses, and ornamental flower growers, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Thien Nghia said that he would accept and direct the host unit to research a suitable plan to organize the Festival. Affirming that this is a highlight event of the province, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that sectors, localities, and people join in implementing steps to achieve the set goals. Sa Dec City in particular will research new projects and products to better serve the Festival.
