Although this new 2026 Ford Explorer model is just a graphic rendering created by digital artist @kelsonik, the rendering has received much praise for its bold combination of the Explorer's traditional design and Mustang-inspired language. In this rendering, the Ford Explorer boasts a completely new front end with a two-tiered LED headlight cluster, an angular grille, an extended front bumper, and large air intakes.
These details are said to be inspired by the Mustang's RTR tuning style, giving it a much more aggressive look than the original model. The hood is also "borrowed" from the Mustang, combined with a large chin spoiler, emphasizing its sporty element. The entire body is finished in a two-tone white and black paint scheme, complemented by large black six-spoke wheels and striking red brake calipers. The side skirts and wheel arches have also been redesigned to enhance the overall muscular look.
Although there are no interior images, this rendering gives the impression that the Ford Explorer is trying on the look of a high-performance SUV. The sketch by @kelsonik is based on the latest facelifted version of the Explorer for the Chinese market – a model that was launched in December 2025. In its production version, the Explorer in China features minor design updates to the front and rear, uses a 2.3L gasoline engine producing approximately 286 horsepower, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and offers rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. However, the "muscle Explorer" in the image is still just an unofficial sketch, and there is no indication that Ford will develop or release this high-performance version.
Currently, the 6th generation Ford Explorer – launched in 2019 – is available in the US market in Active, ST-Line, Platinum, and ST versions. Starting prices range from $38,465 to $54,905, excluding shipping costs. Nevertheless, this sketch still suggests an interesting direction for those who love the Explorer.
