Nearly 60 scientists attend the conference “Neutrino Physics” 2025

On the morning of July 22, at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), the International Conference on Neutrino Physics 2025 officially opened, gathering nearly 60 scientists from 18 countries around the world such as the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Russia, France, the Netherlands, Ireland, Germany, Croatia, Belgium, Japan, India, Vietnam...

The conference was honored to welcome the presence of many world-leading scientists in the field of neutrino physics, including: Professor Takashi Kobayashi (Director of J-PARC, KEK and JAEA, Japan); Professor Masayuki Nakahata (Institute for Cosmic Ray Research - ICRR, University of Tokyo, Japan); Professor Tsuyoshi Nakaya (President of the Japanese Society for High Energy Physics, former spokesperson of the T2K international experiment)... and many prestigious scientists from domestic and international research institutes and universities.

Taking place from July 22-25, the conference not only had the participation of scientists from around the world , but also the active participation of young researchers and Vietnamese students. With its stature, the conference is a clear demonstration of the commitment of the Vietnam Scientific Association and the ICISE Center in promoting basic science in Vietnam to deeply integrate with the world .

This is also a highlight in the journey to develop the first neutrino experimental research group in Vietnam, under the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research and Education (IFIRSE) at ICISE.

Dr. Nguyen Huu Ha, Deputy Director of Gia Lai Department of Science and Technology spoke at the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology Nguyen Huu Ha said that neutrinos are fundamental particles that, although small and difficult to observe, play an important role in exploring the deep mysteries of the universe. This conference is an opportunity for scientists to exchange and share the latest research advances, while opening up potential cooperation opportunities in many interdisciplinary fields.

“The scientific discussions here will contribute to orienting future strategic research, as well as promoting the formation of strong research groups with international influence,” said Mr. Ha.

The conference presents a range of cutting-edge and in-depth topics in the neutrino field, including: Neutrino oscillations from the atmosphere, the sun, accelerators and nuclear reactors; the dirac or majorana nature of neutrinos and neutrinoless double beta decay (0νββ); leptogenesis and testing of fundamental physical laws; flavor models and their connection to grand unified theories (GUT); neutrino scattering with nuclei and absolute mass measurement.

The conference was attended by many leading scientists in the world.

In particular, topics on neutrinos in the universe and astronomy are also given much time, from high-energy neutrinos to applications in multi-messenger observations, a new direction in modern astrophysics.

In addition to theoretical research, the conference also introduced remarkable advances in neutrino detection technology: MW power accelerators; large-scale Cherenkov light detectors; modern quantum sensor applications; beam monitoring and advanced optical measurement systems.

Not stopping at pure physics, interdisciplinary applications such as geoneutrinos in geophysics, Earth tomography or nuclear reactor monitoring for energy security are also hotly discussed.

Along with the conference, the 9th Vietnam School of Neutrinos (VSON9) took place from July 16-25, attracting many Vietnamese and international graduate students and students. With specialized lectures, practical instructions and scientific exchanges, VSON9 not only imparted knowledge but also inspired a passion for discovery, creating a solid foundation for the young generation of scientists pursuing neutrino physics.

The organization of the International Conference on Neutrino Physics 2025 in Vietnam with high professional quality and wide participation is a new step in affirming our country's capacity for organizing and integrating science. At the same time, the event also marks the increasingly important role of Vietnam in the field of global fundamental physics, especially when neutrinos are the topic that opens the way for modern physics and astronomy models.
