According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the country's total coffee exports in the first quarter reached 495,780 tons, worth $2.81 billion. Compared to the same period last year, the export volume decreased by 15.3%, but the value increased by 45.8% due to high world coffee prices.
World coffee prices today
Meanwhile, world coffee prices increased with a stronger amplitude. At the end of last week, on the London Stock Exchange, the online price of robusta coffee for July 2025 delivery stood at 5,415 USD/ton, up 2.6% (138 USD/ton) compared to the previous week.
Notably, on the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for July 2025 delivery reached 399.85 US cents/pound, a jump of 7.3% (27.25 US cents/pound) compared to last week.
The weakening US dollar has helped push up prices for many commodities, including coffee. The coffee market continues to be affected by the weather in Brazil, with the meteorological agency Somar Meteorologia predicting very little rainfall in the coming days.
Some forecasts suggest that Brazil’s arabica coffee output will decline significantly from the previous crop year. Rabobank forecasts that Brazil’s coffee output in the 2025-26 crop year will reach 62.8 million bags, down 6.4% from the 2024-25 crop year. Of this, arabica output will fall sharply by 13.6% to 38 million bags, while robusta will increase by 7.3% to a record 24.7 million bags.
Rabobank said dry weather in 2024 severely affected the flowering of Arabica coffee trees. Robusta, however, still achieved high yields despite difficulties in Rondonia state. Rainfall in March continued to be below average, except in the Cerrado Mineiro region, but the return of rains from late March helped to improve the situation.
According to the Itaú BBA forecast, Brazil’s coffee production in 2025-26 will reach 64.4 million bags, down 3% from the previous season, quite similar to the 64.5 million bags announced by StoneX. Itaú BBA expects arabica production to decrease by 10% to 40.9 million bags, while robusta production will increase by 12% to 23.5 million bags. The organization also said that the forecasted increase in rainfall, which may make harvesting difficult, will better support the 2026-27 crop.
