Update world rubber prices
At the opening of the trading session on May 19, in China, the price of rubber futures for June delivery on the Shanghai Stock Exchange continued to decrease by 0.4% (55 yuan) to 14,785 yuan/ton. Similarly, the price of rubber futures for May delivery on the OSE in Japan decreased by 0.3% (0.9 yen/kg) to 319 yen/kg. In Thailand, the price of rubber futures for June delivery decreased by 0.5% (0.4 baht) to 75.8 baht/kg.

Cariflex has opened “the world’s largest polyisoprene latex plant” – a $355 million (€315 million) project on Jurong Island, Singapore – that will significantly expand its global production capacity for synthetic latex used in the medical and protective sectors. The subsidiary of South Korean chemical giant DL said the plant, which began operations in November 2024 and is designed to be modular, will double the group’s polyisoprene latex production capacity when fully operational by 2023.
Sumitomo Rubber Industries has started 24/7 continuous hydrogen production using the Yamanashi Model P2G power-to-gas (P2G) system at its truck and bus tire plant in Shirakawa, Fukushima. The plant consumes approximately 10,400 tons of new rubber per month. By producing green hydrogen on-site, the company expects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 1,000 tons per year (including scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions).
The US Medical Glove Company (USMGC) of Cincinnati, Ohio, has signed a lease for a new manufacturing facility there to build a “domestic supply chain” for medical and surgical gloves. The privately held project represents an investment of $200–240 million (€180–214 million) to produce nitrile rubber latex. USMGC currently produces more than 2 billion units of gloves per year at its headquarters in Harvard, Illinois, and 120 million units per year of polyisoprene material in Honea Path, South Carolina.
European consumer replacement tire sales increased 3% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, led by a 14% increase in all-season tires, according to ETRMA. Total passenger tire demand (including summer, winter and all-season tires) reached 58.7 million units in the first quarter, up from 57.3 million a year earlier. Summer tire sales fell 3%, winter tires rose 5%. Truck and bus tire sales fell 4% to 2.7 million units. Agricultural tires also fell 4% to 203,000 units.
Domestic rubber price
Domestically, the purchase price of latex at large enterprises has continued to remain flat. Specifically, Ba Ria Rubber Company purchases latex at level 1 at 452 VND/degree TSC/kg for TSC from 30 and above; level 2 at 447 VND/degree TSC/kg for TSC from 25 to under 30; level 3 at 442 VND/degree TSC/kg for TSC from 20 to under 25.
Cup latex, coagulated latex with DRC ≥ 50% at 18,000 VND/kg; cup latex, coagulated latex with DRC from 45-50% at 16,700 VND/kg; coagulated latex with DRC from 35-45% at 13,500 VND/kg.
Mang Yang Rubber Company, latex purchase price decreased by 18.5 VND, currently fluctuating between 397 - 401 VND/TSC, depending on the type. Accordingly, latex type 1 is at 401 VND/TSC/kg; latex type 2 is at 397 VND/TSC/kg.
Grade 1 mixed latex is at 409 VND/DRC/kg; grade 2 mixed latex is at 359 VND/DRC/kg.
Phu Rieng Rubber Company purchases latex at 440 VND/TSC/kg; mixed latex at 400 VND/DRC/kg.
The purchase price of latex at Binh Long Rubber Company is at 386 - 396 VND/TSC/kg; mixed latex with 60% DRC is priced at 14,000 VND/kg./.
