Admire the most modern fishing port in the Central region in Ha Tinh

In mid-May, in Cam Nhuong commune (Cam Xuyen, Ha Tinh ), many people were surprised to see the modern and synchronous infrastructure of Cua Nhuong fishing port.

The Cua Nhuong fishing port construction project has an investment of 280 billion VND, is one of the projects to build and upgrade fishing logistics service facilities and the project to restore and regenerate aquatic ecosystems and aquatic resources in 4 central provinces, using compensation money from Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation.



Cua Nhuong fishing port is built on a 5-hectare land area, invested by the Ha Tinh Agricultural and Rural Development Project Management Board. Construction of the project is scheduled to start in early 2024.

After nearly a year and a half of construction, Cua Nhuong fishing port has been basically completed. Currently, the contractor is completing the final items before handing over and putting the project into operation.

According to the design, when completed, Cua Nhuong fishing port will meet the scale of a level II fishing port with 400CV capacity ships docking, the capacity to dock 100 ships/day, the amount of aquatic products passing through the port is about 16,000 tons/year.



Along with the wharf for ships from 150-400CV, Cua Nhuong fishing port also invested in items such as a seafood receiving yard with an area of ^{​​2,400m2} ; dredging the port channel and the water area in front of the port; inland waterway signaling system; embankment, sand-prevention dyke, and internal roads in the port.

The project also includes leveling the port area with an area of ^{​​49,374.1m2} ; a 2-storey administration building, inland waterways; embankments, sand dams, and internal roads in the port.

The ^2,400m2 seafood receiving and sorting area has been completed, meeting the needs of boats after going offshore to exploit seafood.

Internal roads and fire protection are completed.

Lighting system, green tree planting area (casuarina trees) in the fishing port campus has been completed.

Witnessing the Cua Nhuong fishing port about to come into operation, fisherman Nguyen Van Nam (born in 1970, Cam Nhuong commune, Cam Xuyen district) was excited: Before construction, the fishing port area was just an alluvial land, boats wanting to enter had to anchor 3-4 nautical miles from shore, then use small "tang bo" boats to bring shrimp, fish, and squid to shore, which was both time-consuming and costly. Now, when the fishing port is completed, boats can freely enter and exit, helping fishermen conveniently catch and trade all kinds of seafood.

"When Cua Nhuong fishing port is put into operation, it will certainly attract more boats from other localities to dock, promote fishing logistics services, deep-sea processing, and create jobs for people," said Vice Chairman of Cam Xuyen District People's Committee Le Ngoc Ha.

When put into use, Cua Nhuong fishing port will be the largest and most modern fishing port in the Central region.

Along with Cua Nhuong fishing port, at this time, the investment project to build and expand Thach Kim fishing port has also been completed.



The expansion at Thach Kim fishing port has an area of ​​1.5 hectares with a wharf length of 100m, a water surface width of 12m, a total investment of 60 billion VND, invested by the Ha Tinh Agricultural and Rural Development Project Management Board.

Thach Kim fishing port is expanded in the area east of the current fishing port with main items including 2 berths for ships with capacity over 400CV and 90CV.



Along with that, there is also an internal traffic system, rainwater drainage system, wastewater treatment, water supply system, lighting system, and protective embankment.

Thach Kim fishing port is one of the fishing ports with large seafood trading activities of local people. However, due to the narrow space of the wharf and the silted channel, the entry and exit of ships and trading activities at the port are difficult. Many large-capacity ships have to wait for high tide to enter and exit.

Expanding the fishing port will help fishermen's boats enter and exit the port conveniently, and ensure fishermen's trading activities.

Mr. Bui Tuan Son - Director of the Management Board of Fishing Ports and Storm Shelters for Fishing Boats in Ha Tinh said: The completion and operation of the Cua Nhuong fishing port construction project and the investment and expansion of Thach Kim fishing port are very important, especially in the context that the whole country is making efforts to remove the IUU "yellow card" of the European Commission EC.

Therefore, synchronous investment in fishing infrastructure contributes to managing fishing boats in the right area, right route, tracing the origin of seafood and anchoring safely during the storm season.
