Extension of anti-dumping investigation into galvanized steel from China and South Korea

(Chinhphu.vn) - The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just issued Decision No. 1543 extending the investigation period for applying anti-dumping measures on some galvanized steel products originating from China and South Korea by 2 months to have more time to comprehensively and objectively consider issues related to the case.

According to the Department of Trade Remedies (Ministry of Industry and Trade), on June 14, 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 1535 on the investigation and application of anti-dumping measures on some galvanized steel products originating from China and Korea (Case code: AD19).

However, in order to have more time to comprehensively and objectively consider the issues related to the case, based on the provisions of Point a, Clause 3, Article 70 of the Law on Foreign Trade Management No. 05/2017/QH14, on June 2, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 1543 extending the investigation period for applying anti-dumping measures on some galvanized steel products originating from China and Korea by 2 months to have more time to comprehensively and objectively consider the issues related to the case. Thus, the deadline for completing the investigation is August 14, 2025.

Previously, on May 11, 2023, the Trade Defense Department (investigating agency) received a request for investigation to apply anti-dumping measures on some galvanized steel products originating from China and South Korea. The requesting party (representing the domestic manufacturing industry) includes 5 companies: Hoa Sen Group Joint Stock Company; Nam Kim Steel Joint Stock Company; Ton Phuong Nam Company; Ton Dong A Joint Stock Company; China Steel & Nippon Steel Vietnam Company.

Pursuant to Article 79 of the Law on Foreign Trade Management on the basis for conducting an investigation to apply anti-dumping measures, the investigating agency determined that the requesting party meets the representative criteria for the domestic manufacturing industry. The requesting party also has clear evidence that the dumped imported goods are the cause of significant damage to the domestic manufacturing industry. Therefore, on June 14, 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 1535 on the investigation to apply anti-dumping measures on some galvanized steel products originating from China and Korea.
