News, forecast of live pig price on May 12, 2025: Disease prevention in live pigs
Long An Radio and Television reported that on May 9, Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Minh Lam, requested localities in the province to synchronously and drastically implement measures to prevent and control animal diseases.
He emphasized the goal of achieving vaccination rates against avian influenza, foot-and-mouth disease... over 80% of the total livestock at the time of vaccination.
Since the beginning of the year, Long An province has recorded African swine fever in 21 households, with 738 sick pigs being destroyed. Avian influenza has also appeared in one household, forcing the destruction of 2,200 pigs. In addition, there was a case of rabies in a dog that was promptly treated.
The Vice Chairman requested districts, towns and cities in the province to quickly implement disease control measures and strictly handle violations such as trading and transporting sick animals and dumping dead animals causing pollution and spreading disease.
Functional sectors and localities need to effectively implement vaccination plans for dangerous infectious diseases such as avian influenza, rabies, African swine fever, foot-and-mouth disease, lumpy skin disease, blue ear disease, anthrax, etc. Localities must organize timely vaccination and supplementary vaccination for livestock herds at high risk or nearing the end of their immunity.
In addition, provincial leaders also directed to strengthen control of the transportation of animals, livestock breeds and livestock products at border routes, trails, openings, and rivers to prevent the risk of pathogens entering the province from outside.
