Nghe An: Do not be subjective before the re-emergence of African swine fever
Currently, African swine fever is re-emerging in many localities in Nghe An province, especially in some mountainous communes, where the epidemic has lasted for many months and is difficult to completely control. Actual records show that there are many reasons why the work of disease prevention and control is facing difficulties.
Don Phuc Commune is currently the locality with the most complicated developments of African swine fever in Con Cuong district in particular and in the province in general. Records on May 14 show that the work of disease prevention and control in this locality has not been implemented drastically and synchronously.
Mr. Lu Ngoc Chi - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Don Phuc Commune said: At the beginning of 2025, the whole commune had 3,200 pigs, raised by people in 6/6 villages. From the beginning of March to mid-May, there were 47 households with pigs infected with the disease, with a total of 157 pigs having to be destroyed, with a total weight of 5,741 kg. Of which, 38 sows, 2 boars, 69 pigs and 48 piglets. Currently, the epidemic is complicated and difficult to control, the most recent outbreak was on May 9.
According to statistics from the Con Cuong District Agricultural Service Center, from the beginning of 2025 to now, the whole district has had 6 communes with recurrence of African swine fever, including Tra Lan, Chau Khe, Cam Lam, Don Phuc, Yen Khe and Mau Duc, with a total of 11 villages and hamlets having the disease. The whole district has destroyed 255 infected pigs, with a total weight of up to 14,471 kg. Of which, Don Phuc commune is the locality with the most outbreaks and the most complicated epidemic situation, Nghe An newspaper reported.
