Mr. Nguyen Cong Bac, Director of Loc Phat BLLT Livestock Company (Son La) commented: “Since the beginning of the year, the number of months in which pig farmers have suffered losses has been greater than the number of months in which they have made profits. My business raises pigs on a large scale, is self-sufficient in breeding animals, and production costs will be lower than those of households. In July and August, the increase in pig prices helped the business make a profit, but it could not make up for the loss at the beginning of the year.

On average, each month the company sells about 2,000 commercial pigs to the market. With current prices, it could lose several hundred million dong each month."
