- Currently, the price of acacia seedlings in the province is high, 4 times higher than last year (for acacia cuttings). Farmers cannot produce enough to supply the market.
At this time last year, a cutting of acacia in the province cost between 500 and 700 VND, but now a cutting of acacia that meets the standards for export costs between 2,000 and 3,000 VND/kg. Tissue-grown acacia costs around 5,000 VND/tree (an increase of 2,000 VND/tree compared to last year).
People in Huu Lung town, Huu Lung district cut acacia seedlings
Explaining the reason for the high price of seedlings, forestry seedling businesses and producers said that due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi (September 2024), many areas of trees were broken and felled, increasing the need for reforestation among people. At the same time, due to the prolonged dry weather, many host tree gardens died, affecting the source of seedlings and the success rate of seedlings of people, so the price of seedlings increased.
Faced with this reality, relevant agencies and units have been strengthening inspections of the production and trading of plant varieties to ensure the quality of seed sources, and to encourage people to avoid buying floating seeds of unknown origin. At the same time, they are reviewing the demand and having appropriate support solutions to ensure the progress of afforestation and the goal of sustainable forestry economic development.
