According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the 2024-2025 winter-spring rice crop in the province has sown 242,916/225,950 hectares, reaching 107.5% of the plan. To date, more than 190,000 hectares have been harvested, with an estimated dry rice yield of 66.08 quintals/ha, and an estimated output of more than 1.26 million tons.

Although rice prices have increased, many farmers have not benefited because many rice areas were harvested earlier. In the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring rice crop, Vinh Hung district planted 28,695 hectares. Up to this point, farmers in the area have basically finished harvesting, with yields reaching 7.5 - 8.5 tons/ha, and selling prices ranging from 5,200 - 7,500 VND/kg (depending on the variety).
In Tan Hung district, up to now, farmers have harvested 26,585/39,762 hectares, with a yield of 7.5 - 9.5 tons/hectare, selling price ranging from 6,400 - 6,600 VND/kg, average profit from 24 - 36 million VND/hectare.
According to the industry, the area of pests and diseases on winter-spring rice 2024 - 2025 has decreased compared to last week. Of which, the disease that has decreased the most is leaf blast, whitefly, leaf roller, and stem borer. In particular, the area of leaf blight disease has increased, mainly on rice at the ripening stage.
Farmers need to practice field sanitation and plant rice for the 2025 Summer-Autumn crop according to the sowing schedule recommended by professional agencies.
In addition, the 2025 Summer-Autumn rice crop was sown on 32,759/217,300 hectares, reaching 15% of the plan, equal to 83.3% compared to the same period in 2024. The pests on the 2025 Summer-Autumn rice crop increased in infected area compared to last week. Of which, the most increased were golden apple snails and thrips on rice seedlings, mainly concentrated in Tan Hung district. In particular, the leaf blast disease decreased in infected area compared to last week.
The agricultural sector focuses on directing the prevention and control of pests and diseases in rice. Particularly for the 2025 Summer-Autumn rice crop, farmers need to proactively clean the fields and plant seeds according to the sowing schedule recommended by professional agencies./.
