In the previous two days, namely April 21 and April 20, 2025, coffee and pepper prices remained stable. However, on April 19, 2025, both commodities fell sharply after a period of continuous increase.

On the London floor at 5:00 a.m. on April 22, 2025, the price of Robusta coffee remained unchanged from the previous session, ranging from 5,142 to 5,253 USD/ton. Specific prices for the terms are as follows: May 2025 is 366.80 cents/lb, July 2025 is 364.55 cents/lb, September 2025 is 358.45 cents/lb and December 2025 is 351.45 cents/lb.

According to records at 5:00 a.m. on April 22, 2025, domestic coffee prices in the Central Highlands provinces continued to remain unchanged compared to the previous session, with an average of 129,600 VND/kg.

In some Central Highlands provinces, specific coffee prices are determined as follows: Dak Lak reached 129,700 VND/kg, Lam Dong recorded 129,000 VND/kg, Gia Lai was at 129,500 VND/kg, and Dak Nong maintained 129,700 VND/kg.

Faced with the negative impacts of climate change and high demand from the global market, Vietnamese farmers and businesses are accelerating the transition to organic coffee production for sustainable development. This type of coffee is grown completely naturally, without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides.

Organic coffee production not only helps protect consumers' health but also contributes to reducing emissions and protecting agricultural ecosystems.

The high-end market is increasingly favoring organic coffee, creating favorable conditions for this product to reach the export market. However, not all coffee varieties can adapt to this model, requiring growers to carefully select for disease resistance and suitability to the local climate.

In Vietnam, Arabica coffee varieties such as Catuai, Typica and Bourbon are widely grown in highland areas such as Lam Dong and Son La, thanks to their distinctive flavors that meet international tastes. Meanwhile, Robusta varieties such as TR4 and TRS1 stand out for their disease resistance and stable productivity, suitable for organic farming models in the Central Highlands.

International pepper market remains stable

Updated data from the International Pepper Community (IPC) at 5:00 a.m. on April 22, 2025 shows that the world pepper market is stable and has no significant fluctuations.

According to IPC, Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) is currently priced at 7,056 USD/ton, while Muntok white pepper is sold at 9,641 USD/ton.

In Malaysia, pepper prices remained stable, with ASTA black pepper currently at $9,600/ton and ASTA white pepper being purchased at $12,100/ton.

Pepper prices in Brazil remained unchanged from the previous session, currently at $6,900/ton.

The Vietnamese market continues to maintain high prices as before, specifically: black pepper 500 g/l is currently at 6,800 USD/ton, 550 g/l is at 6,900 USD/ton, and white pepper is priced at 9,800 USD/ton.

In the first 15 days of April 2025, Vietnam exported more than 10,000 tons of pepper, bringing in revenue of 72 million USD. This is a positive result, largely thanks to high-priced export contracts recently signed by domestic enterprises, helping to push up prices in the domestic market.

According to data from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), the three leading exporters were Olam with 1,467 tons, Phuc Sinh with 1,177 tons and Nedspice with 750 tons. On the import side, Vietnam imported about 1,846 tons of pepper, worth more than 12.2 million USD, mainly from Brazil and Cambodia - accounting for over 80% of the total volume, with enterprises such as Olam, Phuc Thinh and Tran Chau leading.

The domestic market recorded an increase in pepper prices thanks to strong consumer and export demand. In addition to traditional markets, Vietnam is gradually expanding exports to the Middle East and Africa, contributing to increased demand and putting pressure on supply, causing pepper prices to tend to increase further.
