Coffee prices continue to increase

In the international market, the ICE Futures Europe exchange in London continued to witness a sharp increase in Robusta coffee prices. Specifically, the November 2025 contract rose to 4,585 USD/ton, up 149 USD (+3.36%), while the January 2026 contract also increased 145 USD (+3.25%) to 4,610 USD/ton.

In a similar move, Arabica coffee prices on the ICE Futures US New York exchange also continued to rise. The December 2025 contract increased by 2.80 cents (+0.72%) to 390.70 cents/lb, while the longer term also maintained a steady upward trend.

Domestically, coffee prices on October 31 recorded an increase of VND700 to VND900 per kilogram, helping the average price level surpass the threshold of VND116,000 per kilogram. This is the highest price since the beginning of the year, in the context of record low inventories and unfavorable weather threatening output.

The domestic coffee market fluctuates strongly.

In the Central Highlands, coffee prices increased significantly, ranging from 115,500 to 116,700 VND/kg. In Dak Lak , prices increased by 700 VND/kg, reaching 116,400 VND/kg. In Gia Lai, the increase was 800 VND/kg, bringing the price to 116,200 VND/kg. Lam Dong alone recorded the highest increase of 900 VND/kg, reaching from 115,500 to 116,700 VND/kg.

Global supply shortages continue to push coffee prices higher. In Vietnam, prolonged heavy rains in the Central Highlands have hampered the harvest, causing many coffee cherries to fall prematurely, reducing bean quality and increasing the risk of mold. Experts forecast that the 2025-2026 crop could be significantly lower than the USDA ’s initial estimate of 31 million bags, although Vicofa had predicted a 10% increase if the weather is favorable.

A prolonged drought in Brazil’s main coffee-growing region, Minas Gerais, has dimmed the outlook for the 2026-2027 crop. Rainfall recorded last week was just 0.3 mm, a rare low compared to the long-term average, raising concerns about a decline in Arabica coffee production.

Not only the weather factor, the sharp decrease in inventories on international exchanges also contributed to the price increase. Arabica coffee reserves have fallen to near the lowest level in 1.5 years, while Robusta has fallen to the lowest level in more than 3 months, especially under the impact of the 50% tax policy that the US applied to coffee imported from Brazil.

In addition, the domestic coffee growing area continues to expand as supply is scarce. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , by September this year, the coffee growing area reached 764,400 hectares, an increase of 2.3% or 16,600 hectares compared to the same period last year. Thanks to the application of new varieties and improved farming techniques, productivity has been increased, helping the output of the 2025-2026 crop to increase by about 120,000 tons.

Notably, Hoang Anh Gia Lai Joint Stock Company, led by Chairman Doan Nguyen Duc (Bau Duc), has completed planting 2,000 hectares of Arabica coffee and aims to expand by another 1,000 hectares this year. The company's long-term plan is to increase the total area to 10,000 hectares in Vietnam and Laos by the end of 2027, of which 70% will be for Arabica coffee.

Pepper prices remain stable

This morning, pepper prices in key regions continued to remain stable at around 144,000 - 146,000 VND/kg, unchanged from October 30.

Specifically, pepper price in Gia Lai remained at 144,000 VND/kg, the lowest in the region. Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai both recorded prices of 144,000 VND/kg, with no fluctuations. Meanwhile, Dak Lak and Lam Dong are still the two localities with the highest price of 146,000 VND/kg.

In the world market, pepper prices remain stable, with no new fluctuations. The price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper is currently at 7,211 USD/ton, while Muntok white pepper is at 10,061 USD/ton.

In Malaysia, ASTA black pepper was traded at $9,500 per tonne, while ASTA white pepper remained at $12,500 per tonne. In Brazil, pepper prices remained around $6,100 per tonne, unchanged from yesterday.

In Vietnam, the price of 500 gr/l black pepper is at 6,400 USD/ton; 550 gr/l is at 6,600 USD/ton; and white pepper remains at 9,050 USD/ton.

According to data from the International Trade Center (ITC), in August 2025, Indonesia exported 2,264 tons of pepper, an increase of 17.3% compared to July. This is considered a positive signal after a period of stagnation in the industry.

However, in the first 8 months of 2025, Indonesia's total pepper exports reached only 24,722 tons, down 8.7% over the same period in 2024. Vietnam continued to be the largest import market, accounting for 21.9% of total exports, while France stood out with a growth rate of 44.4% over the same period.

Experts say that recovering demand in Europe and stable purchasing power from traditional markets could be the driving force to boost the Indonesian pepper industry in the final months of the year, thereby positively affecting global price trends.

In the context of stability both domestically and internationally, the pepper market is currently in a waiting period for new signals. Many businesses expect that year-end import demand from the US and Europe will become the decisive factor in the price direction in the coming time.
