Market context and potential risks
In addition to daily price fluctuations, the durian industry is facing major challenges from natural factors. Recent historic high tides have caused severe damage to many fruit orchards, including durian, in the Western region.

Durian is a high-value crop but is very sensitive to flooding conditions. The massive development of durian cultivation in low-lying areas, lacking a solid dyke and drainage system, has exposed risks when natural disasters occur. This situation raises the issue of zoning and the need for sustainable farming solutions that adapt to climate change to minimize damage to farmers and stabilize long-term supply.
