Expert Nguyen Quang Binh commented that fluctuations in the US economy are causing coffee prices to fluctuate. The impact of the rising USD and large coffee inventories on trading floors are also factors holding back the recovery trend of global coffee prices.

Experts say that if the drought continues and supply remains unresolved, domestic coffee prices are likely to continue to rise or at least remain high. However, the market remains sensitive to climate-related developments and policies from major importing countries.

Due to the impact of the long holiday, the domestic pepper market last week mainly fluctuated between VND154,000 and VND156,000 per kilogram. Prices in Gia Lai decreased by VND500 per kilogram, while the remaining regions remained unchanged. In the international market, pepper prices tended to fluctuate in opposite directions as Indonesia increased prices, while Vietnam and Brazil adjusted downwards.

According to the International Pepper Community (IPC), the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper increased by 3% (equivalent to 214 USD/ton) compared to last week. Meanwhile, the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 decreased by 100 USD/ton and the price of Vietnamese black pepper also decreased by 100 USD/ton. The International Pepper Community (IPC) forecasts that global pepper production in 2025 is likely to decrease by more than 6%, as many major pepper growing regions around the world are affected by prolonged bad weather. India is forecast to suffer the most damage with a decrease of about 25%. In Vietnam, drought has slowed down the harvest and severely reduced output.

In addition, pepper prices in major exporting countries are higher than the same period last year. This benefits farmers but puts great cost pressure on importing countries and processing enterprises.
