Conference overview.

According to the World Bank's forecast, global economic growth in the period 2025 - 2026 will remain stable at 2 - 7%. However, it is noteworthy that global trade continues to maintain double-digit growth rates, reflecting a clear shift of consumers to cross-border shopping.

Specifically, Vietnam's import-export turnover in the first four months of 2025 reached about 276 - 276.89 billion USD, up 15.7% over the same period. Of which, export turnover is estimated at 140.34 billion USD, up 13%.

Ho Chi Minh City also recorded an export turnover of more than 44.4 billion USD in April, with notable items such as coffee, pepper, rubber, computers, electronic products... with three main markets being the United States, Europe and China.

To accompany businesses in this challenging period, the Ho Chi Minh City government has implemented many financial support programs such as: The Bank - Business Connection Program with a total outstanding debt of more than VND 517,000 billion; a credit package of VND 60,000 billion to support the processing of forestry and aquatic products; more than VND 1.9 million billion in preferential loans for the fields of agriculture , export, supporting industry, etc.

In that panorama, it is impossible not to mention the remarkable growth of the global B2B e-commerce market. According to a report from Research and Markets, the size of this market is forecast to reach more than 20.9 trillion USD by 2027, reflecting the strong trend of digitalization in supply chains and business transaction behavior.

This is a market with great potential, especially when more than 53% of Vietnamese enterprises have expressed their desire to increase exports through e-commerce channels - according to a survey by the Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM).

Therefore, the launch of Alibaba.com’s “Performance Guarantee Package” in Ho Chi Minh City on May 28 marked a new milestone in the effort to support export enterprises through e-commerce. This solution not only appeared at the right time but also opened a specialized digital corridor, helping Vietnamese enterprises quickly integrate into the global trade flow in a systematic and strategic manner.

Mr. Young Liu, Country Director of Alibaba.com Vietnam shared: “With the above solution, we are not only providing a tool but also creating a solid roadmap for Vietnamese SMEs. We believe that, with the right support, Vietnamese enterprises will lead the cross-border trade flow in the digital era.”

This support package includes professional booth setup, increased visibility to international buyers and optimized cross-border business efficiency. Designed specifically for businesses that are just starting their export journey or are in the digital transformation phase, this is the total solution that many businesses are looking for.

“Alibaba.com’s initiative is a practical solution, helping Vietnamese SMEs adapt quickly and build a sustainable position in the global supply chain,” said Ms. Ho Thi Quyen.

Global expert Steven Selikoff also shares practical insights from the US market.

A typical example is Silver Pine, a company specializing in the production of high-quality pine and acacia furniture. Thanks to the above solution, Silver Pine has quickly expanded its exports to major markets such as the US, Germany, UK and Canada.

Mr. Tran Chuc Cuong, founder of Silver Pine, affirmed: “We have a clear roadmap and specific results, helping to reshape our long-term strategy for brand development and market expansion. The support team from Alibaba.com accompanies us from booth design to product optimization.”

At the event, global expert Steven Selikoff also shared practical perspectives from the US market. He emphasized that response speed, transparency and product readiness are vital factors when wanting to access demanding markets.

Mr. Steven Selikoff also recommended that Vietnamese suppliers promote their strengths of “reputation, craftsmanship and service spirit”, factors that help Vietnam become a preferred destination in the global supply chain.

With the coordination between local authorities, technology platforms and the business community, Vietnam is facing the opportunity to make a strong breakthrough in the global trade market, where digital transformation readiness and adaptability will be the key to success.

“We will continue to organize specialized training courses to support businesses not only in accessing technology but also in effectively applying it in practice. It is no longer about theory, but about concrete actions,” Ms. Ho Thi Quyen emphasized.
