Vietnam Robotics Competition 2025 creates a playground for students to apply new technology

On May 29, Vietnam Television (VTV) and related units informed about the Vietnam Robot Creation Contest 2025 (Robocon Vietnam 2025).

Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha, Head of the Subject and Science Department (Vietnam Television), Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of Robocon Vietnam 2025 said: “Robocon is not only a playground for technical creativity but also an ideal practice environment, helping students develop their thinking, skills and professional qualities. This year's Basketball competition theme requires teams to make the most of their knowledge, creativity and team spirit. In particular, the Robotics Connect event series will expand opportunities for connection, cooperation and development for students, schools and businesses.”

“This is an environment to practice and test knowledge about mechanical design, control programming, electronics, automation and develop important soft skills for students,” said Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tien Cuong, Head of the Jury of the competition, shared: Behind the design of robots are many technical advances. In the first season, many students participating in the mechanical engineering industry did not know how to program. During the competition, they also learned programming by themselves. In 2024, the competition theme "Golden Season" must classify ripe rice, weeds, etc. Therefore, schools of technology process image recognition through the competition. Engineering students must be attached to practical practice.

According to the Organizing Committee, Robocon is a competition initiated by the Asia- Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) in 2002 and has been maintained continuously until now. The theme and rules of the competition each year will be announced by the host country. In 2025, the host country Mongolia will host the ABU Robocon competition with the theme "Robots playing Basketball", promising to bring many new challenges, requiring creativity and high practical application ability from the competing teams.

In Vietnam, Robocon 2025 continues to be organized by VTV on a national scale. Participating teams must go through the preliminary round, taking place on June 5 and 6, 2025 with 61 teams, to select the 32 best teams to enter the Final Round taking place from June 8-13, 2025 in Ninh Binh province. The champion team of Robocon Vietnam 2025 will represent the country to participate in the ABU Robocon 2025 competition in Mongolia.

The new feature of Robocon 2025 is the addition of the event series “Robotics Connect - Connecting Creativity and Career Opportunities” including exhibitions and specialized seminars. This is a forum connecting students, universities, businesses, technology experts and the Robotics enthusiast community.

The "Robot Exhibition" within the framework of the Robocon 2025 Final Round introduces outstanding products and technology solutions from competing teams, businesses and universities, creating opportunities for students to exchange, learn and gain practical experience.

Robotics Connect is a conference where experts, managers, business representatives and students discuss technology trends, career opportunities, and high-quality human resource development in the fields of Robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) and automation.
