Durian news today 7/28/2025
In addition to the excitement of the domestic market, the durian export market is showing clear signs of recovery in the last weeks of July 2025. Notably, Thailand - the leading durian producer - has increased its imports of Vietnamese durian due to a shortage of domestic supply caused by weather and disease.
According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Vietnamese durian has many competitive advantages thanks to its well-controlled raw material areas in terms of chemical residues and food safety, especially in the Southeast and Central Highlands. This helps the product meet the strict requirements of international partners such as China, Thailand, Malaysia and South Korea.
In addition to durian, many other exported fruits are also recording recovery momentum such as passion fruit, coconut and processed mango. In June 2025, fruit and vegetable export turnover reached 3.1 billion USD, down 6.7% compared to the same period last year - a clear improvement compared to the first quarter, when the rate of decrease was up to 9%.
If the current growth momentum is maintained in the peak months at the end of the year, the fruit and vegetable industry in general and durian in particular can completely surpass the export record in 2023. This is the motivation for farmers and businesses to confidently reinvest in raw material areas, expand acreage and improve product quality.
