Steel price today February 15: Stable

Steel prices today, February 15, are stable, fluctuating from 13,600 - 14,180 VND/kg. Meanwhile, steel prices on the Shanghai floor recorded a decrease compared to the previous trading session.

At the end of this morning's trading session, the price of steel bars on the Shanghai exchange decreased by 1.14% to 3,204 CNY/ton.

Dalian iron ore futures extended gains for a second session, boosted by the risk of supply disruptions from Australia as Tropical Storm Zelia shut Port Hedlan, the world’s largest iron ore export hub. The May iron ore contract on the Dalian Commodity Exchange rose 0.3 percent to 823 yuan a tonne.

However, gains were capped by concerns about the impact of the US decision to impose new tariffs on imported steel and aluminum. Benchmark iron ore for March delivery fell 0.24% to $107.55 a tonne on the Singapore Exchange after hitting a near four-month high on Feb. 12.

Iron ore demand remains strong as hot metal output increases faster than a year ago and downstream steel demand recovers strongly, according to Shengda Futures. Steelmakers may continue to replenish raw materials to meet production after the Lunar New Year holiday.
