On April 17, the recorded pepper price in the domestic market today was around 158,000 - 159,000 VND/kg, 1,000 VND/kg higher than the previous day.

According to the update of the International Pepper Community, the world pepper price of Vietnam is 6,800 USD/ton (black pepper, 500 g/l); 6,900 USD/ton (black pepper, 550 g/l) and 9,800 USD/ton (white pepper) - an increase of 1.45% - 2.94% compared to the previous day.

Of which, the strongest increase is black pepper, 500 g/l type, with an increase of 200 USD/ton.

Meanwhile, Indonesian black pepper was 7,051 USD/ton (black pepper) and 9,634 USD/ton (white pepper), both down 0.18%.

Indonesia is the world's third largest pepper exporter, after Vietnam and Brazil.

In 2024, Brazil will export 56,000 tons of pepper, more than double that of 2023 (24,000 tons).

Pepper prices increased again after the whole industry calmed down after the initial shock of US reciprocal tariffs.

Pepper prices are rising again

Currently, the pepper industry is in a period of lower supply than demand, so many people believe that pepper prices this year will return to the 200,000 VND/kg mark. In its heyday, pepper prices were at 230,000 VND/kg while gold prices were only 35 million VND/tael, and currently gold prices are 115 million VND/tael.

Highlights include a survey trip to the US and Brazil markets from June 28 to July 8 and a trade trip to Germany and the Netherlands combined with participation in the Anuga 2025 International Food Industry Fair from October 2 to October 11.

Selected enterprises will receive partial state funding support, creating conditions to promote exports and expand markets.
